DD age 3 has chipped her front tooth! Any dentists on here?

It’s only the very corner of the tooth and it’s not very noticeable. We have no idea how it happened and neither does DD.

Ordinarily, I’d just pop to the dentist and have them do a little check up but obviously that’s not really an option just now.

Possibly a silly question but is there anything I need to do or anything I need to look out for? Really grateful for any help and advice. Thank you.

My nephew did this when he was one.
Do you know when it happened to your DD?

Dsis told everything should be fine but incase there was trauma caused to the root to keep an eye on the colour of the tooth.
That was 2 years ago now and there hasnt been any problems at all with the tooth.

I’m not sure when it happened but I think it must have been yesterday or the day before as I’m sure I’d have noticed it.

Here is a very blurry pic, so you can see it’s only the very corner. It’s the right front tooth, as you look at her. She has already damaged the tooth on the left, she has knocked her front teeth about 5 times and has made the gums above them bleed each time. After one of her falls, the left front tooth turned grey and was wobbly. Thankfully, the tooth settled back in and the colour lightened a lot so it’s only slightly off colour now.

I just hope she’s less accident prone by the time she gets her adult teeth 🙏🏼

Ds did similar about that age. I had no idea when it happened, neither did he, so I didn't go to the dentist. We kept an eye on it for a couple of weeks and it was absolutely fine. It fell out naturally when he was about 6. Hopefully all will be well.

My son did the same at that age, I have to say it didn’t occur to me to take him to the dentist (slack mother!). It’s only a milk tooth. I don’t think it’s worth taking her during lockdown.

Op thats really miniscule. Doesnt need anything doing at all!

If it is sharp it might need filing slighlty just to stop it catching but thats only if its bothering your DD.

Keep an eye out for discoloration of the tooth, or if any swelling/gumboil appears next to the tooth as if the tooth has taken a knock it may die. However with a chip that small I would be really suprised if that happened
