Does anyone else ache all the time?.

I wake up bloody achey. I'm like this all day. It doesn't matter if I've been super busy or had a lounge around day, I'm always achey!
It's not really like a pain, more of an ache. I feel I need to give myself a bit of a massage and then it feels better esp my calf muscles. .

I don't know if this is what happens as you get older. I'm 37!

Magnesium cream / supplements helps my achey legs also Epsom salt baths. Sure mine is menopause related but I'm 50

Yes me! I was about to post the same! I wake up achey and feel about 90. I’ve just run a 5k (not easily) so I do try and keep fit and active but honestly I feel so slow when I wake up. I take vitamin d which says is 250% of recommended daily allowance but should I take more?

I'm 38 and wake up with aches all the time. My back is awful and I feel like I'm crushing my own ribs when sleeping. I'm a size 16 but don't feel like I'm hugely overweight at all but maybe it's that. During the day iI'm aching all the time too but in bed it's actually quite sore.

Yes. Both me and DH 38 and 39 both having this conversation last night. Feel like we've been hit by a truck most of the time. We have 3 year old twins who completely exhaust us so been blaming that but perhaps it's just an age thing!

yes me! 45, low BMI / size 8, physically active but no strenuous exercise, healthy balanced diet. Back, knees, sometimes hips.

I could probably do yoga or something but would love ideas how to feel less ancient.

Yes me, I'm 35. I think mine has a lot to do with my weight and not being active enough though

Have you had significant stress or trauma? You need to pay attention to sleep and relaxation, really look after yourself, or it could become fibromyalgia.

It can't be age Keanu. It isn't normal to be full of aches and pains in your 30s and 40s. I'm 61 and don't have them. I'm not particularly active - I just do pilates and walk a fair amount, especially now, and I have a BMI of 21.

It is more likely to be a vitamin deficiency or other health issue that can be easily remedied.

I was like that last year.. I just ached all over all the time as if I was recovering from flu.
It WAS vit D defficiency and I'm on supplements for life now and feel a lot better, but it took months to really have an effect. Definitely worth getting it checked!

Please don't put symptoms down to 'just age' there could be a number of underlying causes. First that came to my mind was hyperparathyroidism. I'm alert to this as a family member suffered from it. Also thought magnesium deficiency. You really need a blood test for accurate diagnosis.

I can be a bit stiff and sometimes achey and feeling my age! Swimming, taking turmeric /pepper supplements and vitamins helps, I also had physio as my back was really rubbish which really really helped - I'm 48

I had this last year and it was vitamin D deficiency. It's not age!!

The recommended amount of Vit d was set to prevent rickets and is a low amount. You need it in D3 form and you should take it October to March as we mainly make it in our bodies from sunlight. I take it all year (25ug) but have been taking 50ug during this crisis as it’s been mentioned that low Vit d could be linked to poorer outcomes. Funnily enough a friend suspects he had covid 19 and was in bed for weeks aching and with fever. He continued to ache afterward and got a blood test- he was Vit d deficient!

How much vitamin D would you recommend? The one I have says 12.5ug which is meant to be 250% or recommenced daily allowance. The last couple of days I’ve started taking two.

Yes you can but with sunscreen use it prevents absorption plus uv needs to be at the right strength and enough skin needs to be exposed so not always possible if you’re in an office all day.

I was aching continually amongst other things and it was peri menopause. HRT fixed it.

I am around the same age and have been experiencing the same...it might sound odd but it definitely improves if I skip the fizzy juice! I am addicted to Pepsi max raspberry and do wake up achey with it but it was 10 times worse when I had normal Pepsi max.

I'm worse when I have too much sugar.

I have Vit D daily, as well as Magnesium Malate. It's recommended that Vit K also be taken, which I can't do as I have wonky blood.

Ideal blood serum range for vit D is 100 - 150 nmol/l. Each 1000 iu will raise your levels by around 25 nmol/l (takes several weeks to get there and you need a higher loading dose to start with). So something in the range of 3000 - 5000 iu is what to look for in a supplement, depending on your current levels and recent sun exposure.

If you are pale skinned and get some daily lunchtime summer sun (late spring to early autumn in the south of England), you can make around 3 - 5k iu sunbathing in a bikini in about 20 - 30 mins. Turn over half way, and stop well before you start turning pink. I really recommend the DMinder app for iphone & android that helps you estimate your vitamin D exposure based on supplements, sun exposure and food intake. You just fill in a few parameters like location, height, weight, age, skin colour etc and it calculates an estimate of how much you’re getting.

Incidentally, there’s very little vitamin D available from diet, unless you’re eating huge fillets of oily fish every single meal. Also it’s recommended to take D3 with K2 (there’s combination supplements available) as they work synergistically to shepherd calcium into the bones and teeth and away from the blood vessels and soft tissue where it forms calcified plaques. You can get K2 from animal sources such as liver, pate, dark chicken meat, gouda/jarlsberg type cheese, egg yolks, grass fed butter etc.
