Dc clothing budget? What do you do??

How do you budget for your dc's clothes? Or do you bother? I feel like I should put something aside monthly but I don't buy clothing monthly so would it make sense to do it seasonally?? What way do you do it?

I have 2 dc aged 4 and 7( one of each so no hand me downs except wellies). This year so far I have spent approximately 150 (including a pair of trainers each) so I don't know if I should budget I. Around the same per season? What do you do??

I do two big shops a year for winter and summer when they have chosen and then buy shoes, trainers etc as needed. Still pick up the odd item around the big shops if they spot something they like.

You could buy marginally less gendered clothing and hand down a bit more? My DNiece wears DSs’ jeans and plain tshirts, pjs and socks. Leaving more money for other bits and school uniform etc?

I am intrigued by that part.

My first two were a year apart in age and also “one of each”. I used to pass about a third of the eldest’s stuff down; Jeans, plain t-shirts, dungarees, sweaters & pyjamas.

My DD was fond of pink, purple, unicorns & rainbows, and liked skirts sometimes. My DS preferred red and navy when given a choice and was never one to ask to wear a dress, but nevertheless there is a lot you can buy that is pretty unisex.

I just buy as they need and pick up bits as I see them. I have 3 of the same gender so it is easier as they have a lot of hand me downs to pad out their wardrobes.

Charity shops.
Facebook bundles
Hand me downs.

I always buy them new shoes but other than that...

I buy monthly to spread the cost. This month they both need sandals and new underwear. So it's never too expensive.

Neither of them wear jeans unfortunately, they find them very uncomfortable. My dd wears leggings and skirts (with tights) a lot.

Charity shops aren't great where we are to be honest. My dd is the eldest and is quite picky too...and her stuff obviously wouldn't suit ds.
