Cheap gammon...

We have one of these cheapy gammon ‘joints’ so not a posh ham you might normally do in coke. What is the best way to cook? Can we slice it into steaks and then fry? Or is it a boil in a pan job?!

You can still cook it with coke. I always slow cook those in some apple juice. Turns out great!

Bing it in a slow cooker for a few hours, loads of recipes online for it. I only ever buy those types of gammon joints because after cooking, they're gorgeous and tender and moist and perfect.
I use a bit of honey on mine.

I use that type to slow cook in coke. Turns amazing and tender.

I roast them as per packet instructions. They are always tender, easy to carve. I serve them with roasted red pepper and onions which is a tasty combination. You get bonus cold ham for sandwiches the next day too.

I’d soak it overnight in a large bowl of water before cooking, as sometimes the cheaper joints can be very salty. Then just cook as you normally would.

Roll it up in a daily express for an hour or so

yeah seriously use cooking apples and white pepper

midnightstar66 · 07/05/2020 10:12

I always check it in the slow cooker with a can of coke however last time I for got to buy coke so just put in a dash of eater and it was equally nice. Would probably be a hassle slice

springydaff · 07/05/2020 10:16

It's nice roasted.

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/05/2020 10:23

Soak overnight, slow cook with a bayleaf and some peppercorns. Then 20 mins in a hot oven with a glaze, I use redcurrant jelly mixed with dijon mustard. Never coke.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/05/2020 10:26

Slow cook with some honey.

ProseccoSupernova · 07/05/2020 10:58

Excellent, thanks all!

Roll it up in a daily express for an hour or so

Wouldn't that just make it even saltier and tasting of redundancy?.. 😝
