Shocked, pregnant, where from here?

Backstory;
I lost a Fallopian tube due to a large ovarian cyst, weren’t trying but weren’t preventing as I have PCOS and other issues. When I was getting my cyst removed the gynaecology consultant said most women in my position find themselves needing help in the form of clomid and other medicines.

Now imagine my surprise when I took a pregnancy test, which turned into taking 5 tests including a digital, and I’m pregnant. 1-2 on the clearblue.

Thing is, I’ve never been pregnant before. Is anyone else pregnant right now? What’s the protocol re lockdown? Who do I ring tomorrow? Local GP, someone else? I’m still in shock, but it’s very happy shock.

Congratulations 🥳 lovely news. Meant to be.
I'm pregnant myself and no idea what's going to happen!
I would call the GP or self refer for a midwife. I'm not sure if it depends on your personal area.
Go onto the pregnancy board and maybe see if there's a January thread to join as it has made a big difference for me to be able to read, ask and moan 😂 xxx

Congratulations! Flowers

Probably ring the doctors and get advice on what to do next. Get into the system for scans etc. Years ago for me now but I don't think anything happened right away.

Congratulations! Smile

You don't really have to do anything yet apart from start taking Folic Acid and Vitamin D. You could get pregnancy vitamins with lots of extra stuff but those are the two essential ones.

Usually there would be a "booking in" appointment around the 6-8 week mark but I don't know what's happening atm. I think different areas have adapted antenatal care in slightly different ways. The best bet is to call your GP surgery and ask about the next step. Where I am you don't need to see (or talk to) a GP, you'd just book directly with the midwife.

My GP surgery has a website where they list the community midwife's phone number for self referral.

Perhaps yours has something similar?

First thing will be a booking in appointment, where they take a load of notes regarding your medical history etc. This is usually around the 10 weeks mark and is now being done over the phone, I believe. They would normally take bloods but I think they are doing this at the hospital at the time of 12 week scan now instead.

Congratulations!

I rang the GP, usually they'd just book you in with the midwife, but instead they gave me an email address and a list of things to email. Midwife will apparently be in touch in due course.
