Light and free Oat yoghurt - product review so you don't have to touch with a barge pole

I have just tasted the most disgusting product ever. I saw this new oat based yoghurt on a recent shopping trip, and with current restrictions didn't want to spend a lot of time reading ingredients. That was clearly a mistake!
It is a strange slimy looking product, but it is the taste which is vile. They have added so many artificial sweeteners, it tastes like I have just eaten a lorry load of chemical candy floss . What is the point of adding beneficial cultures if you are going to wipe out the gut bacteria with a shed load of sweeteners?
Never again!!

My pleasure notoast - we all have to do our bit for the country!!
I never would have picked it up had I read those ingredients, but love oat milk so thought it might be good to try.

Thanks for that OP, I might otherwise have tried them. Can I also tell people to avoid Morrisons own brand oat milk. It leaves a revolting sludge in the bottom of your cup.

MadauntofA · 04/05/2020 10:13

Aldi's oat milk is quite nice, bit of a sludge but doesn't separate in hot drinks and is just oats and water, no emulsifiers. Also no added vitamins/ calcium hence the search for a nice non dairy yoghurt - best so far, Alpro plain (no good for those avoiding soya.)

I bought one of these before lockdown when I was going into actual shops. Never again!

AnnofPeeves · 04/05/2020 11:23

Thanks for the Aldi tip, haven't seen their own brand last milk in our local store yet, so will keep an eye out to try it. Oatly barista is good in coffee and hot chocolate, but I prefer Rude Health for tea.

Cheers OP you're bravery is admirable. I shall avoid!

motorcyclenumptiness · 04/05/2020 12:28

a nice non dairy yoghurt
If you can find it (alas my local supermarket doesn't stock it even when there isn't a pandemic raging), Alpro Greek-style (plain, in a big pot) is delicious

lubeybooby · 04/05/2020 12:32

I tried it too and fully agree. The texture is just vile

Rebecca75 · 04/05/2020 19:22

Koko dairy free coconut yoghurt is delicious 😋😋😋

MadauntofA · 04/05/2020 20:29

I've tried the koko yoghurt and I agree it's lovely. Also the alpro plain, but not tried the Greek style. I'll have to do some more product testing Grin
