Been lifting paving slabs for 4 hours and have a really painful lower back.been lucky never to experience back pain, even when lifting weights in the gym. What do you take or do to relieve it? Got work tomorrow and I can hardly move.

Alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen

A warm bath might help, or a heat pack. I actually find ice/cold really soothing when mine flares as well.

Keep mobile too, complete rest will only make is seize up.

Ibuprofen and paracetamol. Ibuprofen tends to be my go to, then add Paracetamol if needs be.

I suffer from chronic pain in upper and lower back! Heat is my saviour, I'd try a hot water bottle on your back plus painkillers.

I really feel for you all. Crikey, it’s horrible.

I suffer from lower back pain a lot. Heat Packs which I wear at work and gel ibuprofen work for me the best. Some rest but keep mobile or it will be worse. If you work at a desk make sure your feet are on the Floor with your back against the back of the chair.

Contrast bathing is good: 15 mins cold, 15 mins hot, etc round and round. You can alternate ice pack and hot water bottle. Usually works well on acute injuries, according to my osteopath.

I rub Tiger Balm into the affected area. I think the hot sensation somehow distracts from the back pain.

I would take ibuprofen but I swear by going on all fours and arching my back up as high as I can for five seconds and then dropping it down and raising my head up, really stretching and repeat both for 5 times. Do this 2 or 3 times.
It just seems to put everything back in its place even though it sounds mad! Confused
