Eye masks for sleeping

Bored AF lockdown musing 6709. Do you use a eye mask for sleep? Has it changed your sleep? Hoping it might stop middle of the night wakenings.

Yes, I sleep with eyes half open, early morning sunshine is a killer

Ooh, I am a very new mask convert. It's only been a week, but am amazed at the difference. No middle of the night awakenings since I got it, which may be coincidental, but I hope not. It's a bit like a nocturnal comfort blanket, so probably helps psychologically as well as the basic light prevention. I've got a silk one from Amazon - also much much comfier than expected. Well recommended.

I never used to be able to wear one. I just hated the feeling both physically & the vulnerability

However there's a light (not ours) outside my bedroom (no black out blind/curtains) that's normally adjusted for daylight savings etc, but the owners are away, so it can't be adjusted. It's a very bright LED type thing.

In frustration one night I put on an eye mask I had from a flight I think it has been helping me go to sleep and I think I sleep a bit more deeply with it on, but I wake up in the night
& I remove it then. It feels claustrophobic

Not sure if that helps you any 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do. Started 6 years ago when I had surgery and was in hospital for a week and always too light to sleep in hospital. I thought I'd feel the mask too much but don't and I've worn one ever since.

I sleep so much better. I buy silk ones from EBay and they don't cost more than about £3. Life changer for me.

Oh fantastic. Thanks everyone. That sounds quite promising. Will try one. I can’t seem to black out the window in my room no matter what I put up. I hark back to the disgusting but impenetrable brown/orange velvet curtains my mum had in my teenage bedroom.
