If your baby is awake but not crying...

In the morning, if your baby is awake, but you can see on the monitor they're just happy in their cot... do you leave them for a while or go get them up straight away?

DS has been chatting to himself since about 6!! I was hoping he might snooze a bit longer, but he’s happy enough.

I used to do a mix, sometimes would get them and sometimes I left them to play. The morning waking is usually the best one for this I found, mine seemed grumpier and wanting attention after nap sleep.

DS1 would wake up crying from every sleep, overnight or naps. So we had to go to him straight away. DS2 has been a revelation - he’s 20 months and 90% of the time he wakes up happy and chatting to himself, reading books (or throwing them out the cot) and playing with his cuddly toys. We didn’t do anything deliberately different, it’s just how they are. DS1 is now 4 and one of us still has to climb in bed with him each night (luckily when we moved he got our old double bed so plenty of space and better than letting him come into ours).

I've always left him until he cries!

Never had a monitor though. So since hes been in his own room, I wouldn't know until he cried anyway!

Ds starts shouting when he's bored. He's 10 months and is happy playing and chattering away to himself for about half hour, 45 minutes.

Although he has started to attempt to climb out, standing and trying to swing his leg up, so I usually go though to him as soon as I see him stand up. I don't fancy dealing with a screaming injured child before I'm functioning properly.
