Honey mustard chicken using English mustard.

Morning everyone. Yesterday I had a clear out of my cupboards and found three jars of English mustard not long out of date, also two pots of honey. I’d like to make a honey mustard chicken to freeze in portions but most recipes online use Dijon mustard. Can anybody advise please?

I can’t imagine using English mustard as a substitute unless you are prepared for a searing hot flavour. I’m sure a quick Google search will be helpful.

@Toilenstripes, thank you for replying. I had a google but most recipes call for Dijon mustard. I looked on the uk Coleman’s site and their recipe called for a small amount of mustard powder mixed with honey and brushed over chicken that’s already been marinaded and cooked.
So it’s really Mumsnetters’ thoughts I’d appreciate. I’d hoped I could combine the English mustard with something to make a sauce.

The Coleman’s suggestion is a good one. I read that you could use it as part of a glaze on salmon and ham. Probably just mix with soy sauce on salmon. We always use a bit in potato salad.

I add a spoonful of English mustard to my homemade macaroni cheese, I also add paprika Smile

I've made honey and mustard glazed gammon with English mustard. I think I used double the amount of honey as I did mustard.

Potato salad, macaroni cheese. So probably potato bake too. And a glaze rather than a sauce. Thank you! Any further suggestions very welcome.
