Can I be arsed with a hot tub?

I only mean an inflatable one for the kids. Will I regret it? Are they a pain to maintain or expensive to run? Did you buy one and regret it or is it heavily used and a great buy? Interested to hear both sides before I decide whether to order one. Thanks

There is a long, recent thread on this, OP. I'll see if I can dig out a link for you.

Hope this works... Hot tubs http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/3892801-Hot-tubs

(I have a proper big fixed hot tub and I LOVE it, as do DC.)

We bought one in the same last year and it's lovely. Easy to put up / maintain. We have chemicals for ours but it's not necessary as long as you empty / refill every 3 or so days. We also don't leave ours on overnight. It goes on between 8-9am and is warm enough by 4 to get in. It's as warm as it goes by the time the baby is in bed though! 🥳 would recommend it!

Thanks guys. Urgh emptying it every 3 days?! I definitely couldn't be bothered doing that. I thought you just kept testing and treating the water?

How much would it cost to run? Also, are they noisy?

SophieJo · 01/05/2020 21:38

Am just thinking the same. Looking at different ones wondering if they are worth the bother.

sweetkitty · 01/05/2020 21:40

Thinking the same thing but can’t find one to buy for love nor money. Mostly for the DCs as I can’t be bothered filling the pool.

OhioOhioOhio · 01/05/2020 21:44

Definitely!

We got a lazy spa as a wedding gift and LOVE it. We don't change the water every 3 day, but are super vigilant with the cleaning and the chemicals in the pool, don't go in without showering first and making sure no creams on etc. Pregnant currently but used it from March to October most years

LER83 · 01/05/2020 22:35

I've been wondering the same thing! Not sure if it would be a novelty for a couple of weeks then never used? DC would be thrilled if we got one, especially ds as apparently we must be poor as we are one of only a handful in his class that doesn't have one! 🤦‍♀️

I have fibromyalgia, sciatica and chronic pain and they are meant to be good for easing aches and pains.

Pinkbubbles12 · 02/05/2020 11:23

We have one and we love it, we have the lazy spa.

We dont empy and refill, we have test strips and chemicals and had it up and going for about a week now.

Kids love it and we do too.

It's only noisy when you use the bubbles

Moonmelodies · 02/05/2020 11:25

Why not have it indoors?

TSSDNCOP · 02/05/2020 12:11

No

IAmReportingYouForBBQing · 02/05/2020 18:24

I love my lazy sos but it can be a ball ache getting used to the chemicals etc. We bought a starter kit and over time have ended up with our own little system. If we keep my nephews out of it we can easily get a week out of the water before we need to shock it and use clarifier etc. Put them in and it's like soup within 48 hours 😬

I have mine set up 24/7 in spring summer and it costs me about £20 a week in electricity. I have the Vegas, bigger models will obviously cost more . I'm if you look at the model you like you can find out how many kw the heater is and then look at your leccy tariff and work out your costs based on maximum usage.
