Anyone ever had posterior tibial tendonitis?

I've developed a really sore foot, which I'm pretty sure is posterior tibial tendonitis. It's all achy up the side of the arch with a red spot over the tendon.
I've never ever had issues with this foot before and am normally fit and healthy, I went for a run the day before it kicked off but I didn't do any extra miles and I can't remember a twist or anything.

Has anyone ever had this?
I did a google and all the articles basically say it's going to take months to heal and my arch is going to collapse creating a permanent deformity of the foot.
This seems a little extreme I must say, so I was wanting to hear other people's experience of it.

My foot is too sore to walk without a limp and I'm currently resting it. I have no plans to go running any time soon.

Yes! I already had flat feet and a genu valgum deformity but a severe sprain earlier this year finished it off. I can’t walk without a limp and it’s exhausting and painful. I saw a podiatrist just before lockdown who said insoles might help. He said they wouldn’t solve all my problems (I also have extremely hypermobile feet and a forefoot supinatus) but they would be of some benefit. They are custom made but then we went into lockdown so I’ve not been able to collect them yet.

Can you do a single leg heel raise? (Stand on one foot and go onto tiptoe)

That sounds rough!
Poor you.

Did the pain come on gradually or all of a sudden?

I can but it hurts.

Yes but I have a genetic soft tissue disorder so my experience and healing not the norm. It was a sprain that finished my foot and ankle off also. I was due to get a MRI last month but it’s been cancelled . If it’s just come on I’d rest it, ice it and elevate it whenever you can and if you can take ibuprofen take it regularly for a few weeks. I wear a support on mine which really helps too.

This is the best one I’ve tried over the years

That's so frustrating for you. How is it now for you?

I've just bought that ankle support, thank you

Yes, it was sudden as a result of spraining my ankle. I can’t go onto tiptoe at all. Definitely rest it and ice it.
