How busy are you at the moment? Are there any new lettings taking place during lockdown?

Why do you ask?

I work for letting agents. Not as an agent but a contractor.

Things are starting to move a little now as agents have done property videos.

I'm a landlord (an accidental one- rented out our house when it failed to sell).

I'm trying to work out if our letting and management agency are completely snowed under, or if things are quieter than normal. They aren't responding to my queries and when I call they say they'll call me back and never do. They've be fine previously, and I know how tough it is to be WFH with children as I'm doing it myself but I'm starting to get very concerned by their lack of communication.

It depends on how big the agency is. Many have had to furlough their staff and therefore have less staff (normally admin and management) still working from home.

The ones I work for have generally got back to me straight away.

I hope your luck improves with them.

I work in property management. We are all working from home and in contact with all clients and tenants.

Lettings aren't taking place at the moment, we use sub-agents for lettings, as guidance is people should only be moving house at the moment in exceptional circumstances. Although tenants could undertake virtual lettings and agree a commencement date in the future, we wouldn't recommend signing a contract for a property that hasn't been physically seen, for multiple reasons.

Sorry virtual viewings, not lettings!

Thanks all, I hadn't considered the furlough aspect. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt as I know it's a tough time but equally want to ensure that our tenants are happy and some essential repair work has taken place- I don't want to be a horrible landlord!
