DD will be 4 in September! And DS 1st birthday is Oct...

For DD is has been different every year and everyone tells me it gets more expensive every year! Don't I know it with the list she has.. started with a £180 LOL house 🥴

So how much do you spend on your DC?

In that case I'd go with it. But as I said earlier I'd hold off a good few months, the last thing you want esp with an expensive toy is for something new to come out and they change their minds.

I spend:
£50 on presents (more small, silly, token gifts)
£100 on a party
£200-ish on a weekend away and activity (like zoo, museum, tour) + meal etc... which is for all 4 of us and we would do during the year anyway but its just better to do it at birthdays

Dd was 3 at the beginning of March. She enjoys the social aspect and party cakes so we didn't need to get her lots of presents. I imagine as she gets older the costs will swap over!

£150 soft play party for all of her friends (including food, drinks and party bags)
£70 cake ingredients (we made a 5 tier dinosaur/ volcano/ mermaid/ sweetie creation, 5 relatives helped)
£20 on two small presents

When they are too young to tot it up I just get them what they want/need. So if it’s a teddy bear and some stickers or a new bike that’s what they get.

It has changed over the years, depending on their age, what they wanted and how affluent we are.
