Just need to talk, having a really bad day, and if you have any good book suggestions, maybe you can share them with me?

Visually impaired and using dictation, so as usual, I'm sorry if there are mistakes. The weather, everything with my bank card, struggling with food and everything else is really bothering me right now… I almost I'm at the point where in a few days, if I don't have a bank card, I'm going to go on the tube to the big branch of my bank and ask for an emergency card. I've only left the house twice All of this time… I Collett a house, but it's really just a small room and I haven't really even been able to exercise in here… When it was sunny, it made a big big difference but now… I'm really not having a good week. My iBooks did recommend I read why men like bitches ha ha Ha. Not the type of thing I usually read, but I might give it a go… Or does anything else lighthearted come to mind that I might like

By the way, if you don't have any yogurt, or milk, how would you prefer prepare muesli? I do have some porridge… So if I made the parents, and mix the museum?

Hello; sorry to hear you are having such a bad day.

The weather doesn't help because it's dark and miserable which I I always feel lowers my mood.

What is going on with your bank card?

In terms of books to read; if you want something light hearted and uplifting I can highly recommend The Lido by Libby Page, The Cactus (can't remember who by) or very funny and a bit rude book called So Lucky by Dawn O porter.

I hope you feel better soon x

OK, I will look into getting some of these. Thank you. And my bank card was canceled last week due to fraudulent activity when I was trying to make an order from Deliveroo. I’m almost thinking about going to the bank to get an emergency card if it doesn’t arrive within the next couple of days… Has anybody been on the tube in London? Do you know if Swiss college station is open? What bus what I need to take to Swiss cottage from West Hampstead? I have a mask and some gloves now… If I put those on, and I just go… I don’t have any hand sanitizer though. But I’m really worried not having a card…

The Sun Sister by Lucinda Riley.
The truth about the Harry Quebert affair by Joel Dicker.

I've just listened to the best, best, BEST book on Audible. Barchester Towers, by Anthony Trollope read by Timothy West. I had struggled reading the book for a while but was trying because it's my dad's favourite and I promised him I'd give it a go. It seemed so turgid and difficult and I wasn't getting anywhere, so I downloaded it from Audible and it transformed the book - absolutely hilarious, sarcastic social commentary, brilliant characters and a happy ending.

Muesli doesn't go off so I probably would just save it until I had some yoghurt in (my favourite way to eat it) but yes, you could sprinkle some muesli on top of hot porridge to give it a bit of crunch and texture!

On exercise, try barre fitness videos - they don't take much space at all and because there's no jumping about you won't bother any downstairs neighbours. I've been doing it in our spare room which literally has a space just between the bed and the desk and holding onto the side of the desk as my "barre". Here's one I've been doing with a rolled up towel and a bottle of water in each hand as a weight!

Hellokittymania · 29/04/2020 15:58

I was trying to move the bed around to make some space in here, I'm really, really low on space… It's like every time you turn around and run into something…

I think I just remembered that Swiss college station was closed before the lockdown… The big Barclays that I know where it is is in Swiss cottage… Any other ideas as to how to get there? I've never taken the bus there, so I don't know how to do it.

I think Finchley Road station is still open isn't it? I could either get the bus from West Hampstead outside the station or from Finchley Road station. I just don't know how to do this, but I'm really worried if that new car doesn't arrive… New card.

I have some frozen berries in my freezer that I've been saving. I might use them now as well. I have a little bit of food, just not much, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do with it…

OP

I bump into things in the tiny flat as well.

Swiss Cottage station is closed. I guess you won’t want to say exactly where you are. The 13 bus route is running and it goes past there.

PotteringAlong · 29/04/2020 16:03

Have you got any orange juice? I like that for museli.

LilacTree1 · 29/04/2020 16:04

The c11 bus goes between West Hampstead and Swiss Cottage.

I note you ask for light hearted reading.

A pp said the Joel Dicker book which is not lighthearted!

LilacTree1 · 29/04/2020 16:05

Also check your bank opening hours

They are massively reduced.

Alpacamabags · 29/04/2020 16:07

Do you have a community page you could post on to ask for someone to help with errands? Or whoever you co let with?
Stay strong. It's hard but you can do it.
Try and go out for even just a 10 minute walk daily.
I'm listening to The Woman I was Before and I'm really enjoying it.

Mumdiva99 · 29/04/2020 16:09

Fruit juice on muesli works well...not too much. My oh makes his porridge with hot water and adds peanut butter.

I just finished the latest Marion Keyes book - Grown Ups. All her books are quite light hearted....you might get an older one cheaper.

Has the bank sent the card out? Hopefully it will come soon. Not local so can't help with buses etc.

Hellokittymania · 29/04/2020 16:20

I rarely take the bus around, but the both of the bus routes 13 and see 11 stops somewhere near West Hampstead station or the Thames link?
I don't have any fruit juice except for those little kids boxes of apple and mango…
I think I might have a Weetabix on the go thing somewhere… You know one of those shakes, instead of drinking it I might just mix it with the muesli.

OP

You could walk from West Hampstead to Finchley Road but I don’t know which you would find easier. My computer is really crap so I can’t check the walking route for you but perhaps someone else could?

Jamandbreadd · 29/04/2020 17:52

Dunno if you’re at all into history but I recently finished “the mirror and the light” by Hilary mantel which is all about Henry viii- it looks intimidatingly massive but was so absorbing the way she writes, you felt like you were there in the Tudor period. I like that kind of escapism in a novel. (Plus you can feel snugly intellectual as it will probably be Man Booker Prize winner!)
Also “the five” by hallie rubenhold is an easy to read non fiction book about the victims of Jack the Ripper.
Hugs.. this too will pass
