Apple cider vinegar and Turmeric

SistemaAddict · 28/04/2020 19:30

I remember my uncle being apple cider vinegar by his hospital consultant the 90s to aid weight loss but does it work for a variety of ailments? Is it just a fad? Although if it's been around so long, maybe not. What is the benefit of added turmeric? Have you tried it and had any benefits? I've heard there's a lot of benefits but am sceptical.

I think there is some suggestion that both ACV and turmeric are anti inflammatory and good for gut health. Anything that improves intestinal health has health benefits across the body, so I suppose there may be some truth in it? However, I think you're better to remove from your diet the things that damage gut health (eg processed foods, sugar, sweetener) rather than try to undo their effects with supplements.

Anecdotally: my mum has fibromyalgia and takes turmeric capsules and feels they reduce her joint pain.

I use something like this to apply externally on my face. Wouldn't dream of ingesting it.

@VladmirsPoutine vinegar? You wouldn't dream of ingesting vinegar? Really?? Even on chips?

DH takes ACV for gout. Really helps.

Completely immerse an egg in apple cider vinegar overnight and then feel the egg the next day. The shell should become supple.

@thenewaveragebear1983 Oh of course!! Indeed even a shot of vinegar with warm water is supposed to be good. But I meant as a mix with Tumeric and all that.

read the real medical sites (not the 'trying to sell you something', red tops or anything written by actresses) and you will find that there is no real evidence.

to lose weight, eat fewer calories than you burn off. Whether you do that by intermittent fasting, special plates, eating at only certain times or just plain pigging less is up to you - whatever works.

I have the Goli Gummies which are apple cider vinegar with the 'mother'they also contain b12, I take no other supplements apart from vitamin d and c. Since taking these my energy has improved and my skin is noticeably softer. I add turmeric powder to any curries or stews I make, also i stir fry vegetables and add it in the seasoning. So I probably have it 3 to 4 times a week. The taste isnt too strong so it can be added to lots of things (I even stick a bit in spaghetti bolognese). I think this is the best way to eat it instead of capsules
