Anyone had any experience of the crisis team?

I posted on here a week or so ago about my deteriorating metal health. I finally took your advice and called my GP on monday, who was absolutely wonderful. Prescribed anti-depressants and put me in touch with the crisis team. Had a phone assessment with them then they visited today

Not sure what I was expecting. They were here less than 10 minutes, told me to go out for a walk and that they'll be back tomorrow. Maybe I was expecting a more in depth chat? Or an assessment? I just feel a bit dismissed.
I know its difficult at the moment, is this usual?

I had much the same experience. Told me to go have a bath or watch a comedy film. Hmm

Completely normal in my experience.

Unfortunately I can’t see that the crisis team is much actual help in a crisis.

Not necessarily a reflection on them personally, just an indication of how god awful our mental health provision is.

One of my family members was handled by the crisis team a few months ago and I was so impressed with the level of care they received although am led to believe other areas/health authorities are not quite as good.

They were seen every other day initially then that dropped twice a week until they were referred to the Well-being service (not nearly as effective). The sessions varied in length depending on what they spoke about but I think the initial assessment is to basically check you are not going to come to any immediate harm (there are set questions they will ask you to make this assessment)

I'm so sorry you're struggling 'Coldemort', hopefully tomorrow your counsellor will give you more time, you can talk more and they help you find some coping mechanisms.

You mean the crisis team are real?!

A few months back my brother had the pleasure of trying to get hold of them while I, in the background, tried to explain to him that the existence of the crisis team is a lie, and that he was the crisis team. We never did find them; he took me to A&E in the end. So I reckon you're doing alright, OP - you've established contact and you've got the reassurance it's ongoing.

Utterly shit in my experience. I work with vulnerable young adults and when we have had to involve any form of crisis team due to complete breakdowns/psychotic periods they have generally turned up hours and hours later stated all ok and left..I am sure a lot of it is down to funding but ni positive words from me

About 7 years ago I was referred to the well being service and remember being told 'if you feel a bit sad run a nice bath' (this was after being discharged following an overdose). I never went back....
They're coming back tomorrow but I'm not sure why. I dont mean that snidely, I genuinely dont know what the point is other than to check I'm alive. If that is the point, fine just tell me that!

sorry to say it OP

all the mental health resources that get talked about aren't worth a damn.

I've had issues for 20 years and I wouldn't want more tax money going to pay for them.

If you're new to medication, hopefully that will help you.

Coldemort · 29/04/2020 12:33

And today's visit has been cancelled...

A relative saw a crisis team here in A&E as she pitched up there suicidal after the police referred her. They had a quick chat and sent her home and told her to visit her GP as soon as she could.

I found that being under the crisis team meant that it was much easier to access a psychiatrist - eg with getting meds established. The daily check ins weren’t much more than making sure I was still there
