I'm interested to know how much you give your teenager per month pocket money / allowance

Please don't include how much you pay for lessons, hobbies, trips etc

just literally what you give them to spend on themselves and what it includes

I have just started giving my dd (16) £85 pm which needs to cover her clothes and cosmetics and gifts for the family

I pay for her phone myself

£30 per month for DD who is 14. I pay for her phone

I give my teenage boys 15/16 £5.00 pocket money per week if they've done the chores expected of them live keeping their room today and washing the dishes . I buy their clothes but if they want something designer wise they save up using their birthday or Christmas money. Hopefully after lockdown my 16 year old will get a part time job and that will help him to buy any extras he needs. My DD did the same at his she and bought all her extra bits like make up with the money she'd earned.

There was a tread on this last week.
DD Is 13, she gets £15 a week cash.

DS (17) gets £100 a month to pay for social things, lunches at college etc. He also has a part time job.

DecadentDeity · 28/04/2020 11:25

£90 clothes and going out and treats. We pay for phone and lunches. She works part time too.

£15 a week for DS ( aged 16). He's very good with money, saves most of it to buy nice bits of clothing or towards school holidays so he can have days out with mates. He doesn't have any set chores to get his allowance, however if I ask him to do something I expect him to do it with minimal moaning!

RedskyAtnight · 28/04/2020 11:28

We asked whether they wanted an allowance or whether we should just give them money as and when. One wanted an allowance, and the other said "as and when". In both cases it's around £30 a month and we pay for their phone (£5 payg a month) on top. They are 14 and 16.

This covers going out, presents for friends and anything they want on top of basic clothes, toiletries etc that we provide.

They are not spending any of it at the moment :)

OnlyToWin · 28/04/2020 11:33

£40 per month for socialising.
We buy clothes they need and pay for their phones.

Sheeeeesh · 28/04/2020 11:48

£50 a month just to spend on whatever he chooses. Everything else (phone, clothes, clubs etc) we pay for separately.

artisanparsnips · 28/04/2020 11:53

13 and she gets £20/month, and we pay for phone. This has to cover clothes she wants but doesn't need, and small gifts.

okiedokieme · 28/04/2020 11:59

Mine got £40 a month which covered leisure activities, make up and extra clothes (I took them shopping a couple of times a year, neither wore school uniform). Increased to £60 dd1 starting university (lived at home) and dd2 got £120 as she lived away

TreacherousPissFlap · 28/04/2020 13:42

DS (16) gets £10 a week and recently his child benefit as well.
We pay for his phone contract and gym membership but everything else is down to him now - the jury is out as to how this will work out Grin

PlumpAndPlain · 28/04/2020 14:08

DS (15) gets £25 a week. This has to cover bus pass and a climbing session once a week usually which comes to £14. The other £11 a week his his to do as he pleases - mostly junk food I believe! He also has a part time job which gives him an extra £40 a month

x2boys · 28/04/2020 14:20
