Has anyone lost a considerable amount of weight post menopause?

I need to lose weight desperately. Tried WW and SW, tried low calorie, paid for 2 nutritionists, had a personal trainer, done my fitness pal, tried another similar programme.
Its soooo much effort and zero reward. Even if I lost 1lbs a week I could stick to it. But just no results and then I give up cos what's the point?

I've put another 10lbs on in last 12mths and pretty sure its menopause. A lot of my friends are also complaining of weight gain and cant shift it.

Has anyone lost a significant amount? Like more than a stone post menopause?

Please dont reply calories in/calories out etc. I wanted to hear from anyone in a similar situation who has had any success.

Your beat bet is to try and build muscle, the. You stand a chance when it comes to losing weight post menopause.

I lost 4.5st and have kept it off for 3yrs. I began my regime just as menopausal symptoms were really beating me down. I needed to help myself feel better. My advice would be to view it as embarking on a hobby. One that'll make you feel good about yourself, make you get excited about wearing clothes, make you sleep better, relieve aches and pains, will make you able to move easier, give you pleasure and satisfaction and will make others compliment you, hence reinforcing everything you'll do. Treat it as Project You. Find a weight loss plan or method that suits you, new stationary for meal plans and......most importantly.....an exercise that you genuinely like doing. An exercise you can feel releasing endorphins. Prepare for the long haul. Its hard getting weight off but keeping it off is harder. Eat fantastic food within your plan and LOVE the exercise you choose. It must be sustainable FOREVER more! Good luck and enjoy it!

I also gained weight post menopause. I managed to lose a stone by only eating low fat food and giving up sugar and alcohol. It took me around 5 months and it was very slow going.

As others have said, it has to be life long change.

Ugh I could've written your post, except I was already 3 stone overweight when menopause hit and it struck me how much harder it was getting to lose.

The only way I lose a decent amount is through intermittent fasting AND low cal, but I suck at sticking to that as well. So now I'm menopausal, 4 stone overweight, and utterly unsuccessful at losing it. Sadly I suspect deep down I just don't believe I can ever achieve it, and who cares anyway.

Lost 15kg last year - Fast 800 and 16/8 fasting. It was ok once I got in the groove and I have found 16/8 fasting really works for me.

I have currently lost 8lb on my programme, and stand to lose more. I am a year post menopause.

In my case, it really is a case of what you eat, something I've resisted for so many years. I started the Noom programme 2 weeks ago, and they including lots of psychology, so I'm finally getting to grips with the comfort eating, trying to build new habits, and it's having an effect on not just what I eat, but how I eat.

I have a wedding to go to next year. I'm determined to wear a dress for the first time in nearly 40 years.

I lost a stone last year IF. I had to fast for 36 hours every two days to consistently lose weight and I’m just not busy enough right now to do that again. Plus it gives you terrible insomnia which I just can’t handle currently.

What I am doing is fasting till lunch each day. That’s definitely helps and isn’t too painful to do.
