4 month old development concerns

Posting in chat for more traffic, hope that's okay.

I have an exactly 4 month old, he was born at 38 weeks so not premature.

He smiled early and has been cooing for weeks. He wants constant social and physical interaction so in that sense he's a very clingy Velcro baby.

However I've just realized he's not reaching for toys yet. His hands are constantly in his mouth and he's drooling up a storm so not sure if that's why. His hands are still mostly in little fists, not sure when they're meant to open up more?

The reason I'm more concerned is my older DS is 5 and mostly likely HF ASD, although not yet diagnosed. He did develop all milestones later than normal but he was 6 weeks premature and still has a language delay. Due to that I'm a lot more concerned for DS2 now.

Full disclosure; I was diagnosed with anxiety after DS1 and I started antidepressants again after DS2's birth.

Just wanted to hear others thoughts? Thanks

Sounds like my now 5mo when he was 4mo. He showed interest in toys, social interaction etc but wouldn't reach for them. It has come on in the last week I would say. Babies all develop at different rates but he sounds similar to my DS. I would try not to worry and enjoy his cute self Flowers

@pogopogopogo thank you that's nice to hear. I know it's so hard, I'm doing okay for the most part (my meds are helping a lot) but it's hard to let go of old habits I guess. Hopefully he will start coming along in the next few weeks.
