Best conditioner for long hair

When I say long I am talking about waist length hair. I'm desperate to get it cut and was booked in to do so, however coronavirus got there first. I'm not up for cutting it myself after a disastrous experience in my teens.

I'm currently using Aldi's green conditioner which used to work really well but it's not now. Not sure if it's because they've changed the formulation or because my hair is getting longer. Hair brushing is an absolute nightmare even though I wear it up during the day and plait it at night. It just seems to tangle at every given opportunity.
Can anyone recommend a long hair conditioner that actually helps to reduce knotting, and bonus points if it doesnt smell of strawberries either!

Revlon Uniq one or Osmo Wonder 10. Salon products.
Maybe try ebay
These are a spray leave in conditioner

It depends on your hair type. If your hair tangles easily you might need more moisture. I'd recommend Shea Moisture, I have really dry, tangly hair and it definitely helps.

Palmer's olive oil conditioner. Just the normal one, not the leave in or spray one.

Aussie Miracle Moist. And smells great.

When I was in hospital recently a friend gave me a pamper kit she made that included some Morrocan Argan oil stuff in a blue bottle and I loved it. She gave me the shampoo and the conditioner which were both really nice. I've now thrown the bottles away sorry so not sure of the brand, but some of the other things she gave me were from Tesco so I am guessing she got it from there. My hair is not quite as long as yours but it is very thick and I think its the best conditioner I've ever used.
If you cant get that, try Aussie Miracle, both the normal conitioner and the intensive treatment are quite good.

Argan oil of Morocco. Comes in a blue bottle with gold writing, usually about £7. Best conditioner I've ever used and it smells amazing

YY Argan oil.

Or, if you're happy to spend, then the best shampoo I've ever used is L'Occitane. I don't need conditioner when I use it as it's oil based, so it doesn't dry your hair out at all.

L'oreal dream lengths. It's amazing. And it doesn't flatten your hair.

magicstar1 · 27/04/2020 00:07

Funnily enough, my hair is almost as long as yours, I’ve been using Aldi green and my hair has been so knotted lately! I got a different one in a gold bottle. It has oils in it, and my hair is so much better after one use. It looks like the L’Oreal Elvive with oils.

I agree with aussie but prefer the three minute miracle. It says three minutes but If you can leave it in and wrap your hair in a towel for half an hour as well it leaves it feeling amazing.

We've been using L'Oréal dream lengths for about three months- the difference it has made to dd's knotty mangled mess is amazing. She really struggles to brush the knots out, and there's always little matted bits when I wash it, but it's mainly staying knot free now.
Could you trim the ends a little yourself? That will get rid of the very worst dry bits.

Another vote for L'oreal Elvive Dream Lengths. I use the shampoo and the conditioner and my tangled messy hair is much smoother and less painful to brush or comb.

pinkmagic1 · 27/04/2020 07:12

Another vote for the Palmers olive oil range. The spray in, leave in conditioner is fantastic to use after washing and conditioning normally to really detangle.

The Phil Smith Glam Shine range has been good to me. I've used the Aussie range in the past and it is brilliant and I would also recommend it, but my choice would be Glam Shine. I can't remember the last time I've had to use a hair mask or had split ends, despite getting my hair cut rarely.
