Definitely have thrush I get it often and normally go to the clinic for a swab and get given medication. This is due to it being quicker than the doctor testing me. I’ve had the symptoms since yesterday and have been putting caniston cream on all over since yesterday But it’s not working. the itching is so bad I’m going to try and get some tablet tomorrow but what can I do until then. Will be getting a doc appointment soon as I also have a pea sized lump near my clit I’ve had a cyst before but it went away. Would these two be related.

Have you got any antihistamines. Try taking one, I find it stops the itching. If you have any aqueous cream, try washing with that and rinse well. It really soothes your bits! I suffer with thrush ,it's horrid.

Thank you will take an antihistamine before bed I did have some aqueous cream but ran out and couldn’t afford any more will get some though when I go to the pharmacy

The cream only helps with the external symptoms, it doesn't cure it. Get a tablet first thing tomorrow that's all you can do tonight apart from using the cream really...

I found that the course of 7x 50mg fluconazole capsules once a day were far more effective than the one off 150mg dose, perhaps ask if you can try that?

GoldenHoops · 26/04/2020 07:11

I know we shouldn't go to multiple shops but if you have a pound shop, near you their aqueous cream is just as effective as the expensive stuff. I get mine in Poundland.

I've suffered from thrush all my life. I've had the 7 day tablets and been swabbed etc etc.

But I always still end up with it. I buy the tablets off Amazon - you can get 3 for £8 -10 and I always have them in. I can't wait for a drs appointment. The minute I get 'that itch' I take a tablet.

Strangely since meeting my new DP five yrs ago I don't get it half as much so my ex must have been giving it me once I'd got rid of it.

Is your usual clinic still doing phone consultations? If so they may well issue a prescription given your history. Good luck, thrush is misery...

Littleteacup1 · 26/04/2020 11:32

Sexual health clinic are not open today so going to try the pharmacy on Monday they’ve stopped giving me thrush tablets with out a prescription as I get it so often but maybe in lock down they might understand

I've always just used natural yoghurt, dunk a tampon in it and smother your bits in yoghurt, it's usually gone within a day. Soothes the pain and cures the thrush all in one go 🤷‍♀️

Littleteacup1 · 26/04/2020 16:50

I cant wear tampons due to medical reasons

Soak a sanitary towel in water and freeze it for temporary relief if you are sore, if not you could try to smother yourself in natural yoghurt , avoid all soaps bubble bath scented toilet roll and dont wash your underwear in fabric conditioner.

I've had recurrent thrush since I was a teenager and it is miserable.

If you have a hand held shower, use this to thoroughly wash yourself (no soap, obviously). When it's really bad I do this several times a day and it gives really good relief. Follow with a good emollient such as Diprobase to keep things moist.

I have found that fluconazole tablets aren't very effective for me but econozole pessaries work really well. You need these on prescription I believe but worth a try if you keep getting it.

Thrush and Lichen Sclorosis are often mixed up. Are you sure you haven’t got LS. The only reason I post this is that I had itching with no relief for ages, spent £££’s on treatments with no resolution and haven’t had “thrush” since being diagnosed and treated for LS.
