When did you get rid of the sand pit?

We’ve had ours 2 years.
DC plays in it but likes to have it soaking so it’s just a sandy wet mess and I hate it

It’s just a bit plastic monstrosity and takes up space that could instead be used for a play house

Should the sandpit go?

Could you get rid of it and get a smaller sand/water table instead?

Rebelwithallthecause · 24/04/2020 20:09

I hadn’t thought of that.

Are there any that aren’t hideously massive though?

My dc are 7 and 8 and we've just got rid of ours.

I've put a bag of play sand in a flattish box to make a small sand box for younger visiting kids and chucked in a few of the smaller toys and it's in the garage - might something like that work if you have kids who might want to play with sane but you want rid of the box?

We used a 50l Really Useful Box, I think.

I got rid of ours a few years ago, I don't think any of the DC have noticed it gone tbh.

It was either sandy footprints walked into the house, or the lid left off so it was full of rain and next doors cat.

I can't stand sand pits, it makes my skin crawl! It's a more expensive option, but Wayfair do picnic tables with a sand and water tray in for about £80. We bought a play house with slide from Argos and you are meant to have a sand pit underneath, although we don't.

@Stompythedinosaur that’s a great idea.

Il get one of those for the odd time sand is wanted

Otherwise we have a massive area of gravel in one section of the garden. Kids seem to prefer digging in that anyway!

Put compost in instead of sand, it lasts longer and doesn’t seem to be as messy as sand.
