What to get for friend with newborn twins?

A good friend has just had twins and should be out of hospital soon. Normally I'd want to visit and to help with practical things for them, but obviously that's not on the cards. Any thoughts of what I could send her that would be a thoughtful gift and also helpful? I remember getting so many cute cuddly things when my kids were born and a lot of them never got looked at, so something that makes life easier / nicer for her would be good. Any thoughts?

I loved my bath kneeler. I think it was Skip Hop.
Nursing cushion - having more than one is han

A food hamper made up of things she can chuck in the oven/microwave but are delicious. Thinking about making meals right now is not what she needs!

Bubbletrouble43 · 23/04/2020 07:15

Probably expensive but I really wish I'd bought a baby carrier/ sling for my twins, even just to use around the house and garden. The pram was too expensive to justify both.

I had twins but can’t think of anything I got that was twin specific. Very much personal taste but I went mad for all the cheese I’d been avoiding and Neals Yard Dairy are still delivering by post.

Impatientwino · 23/04/2020 07:19

Meals/Food - High energy snacks, dinners, things they can bung in the oven etc

Cook are delivering I believe and also do gift vouchers.

Sammysquiz · 23/04/2020 07:19

Someone got us a month’s subscription to a company who deliver fresh pasta and extra ingredients once a week so we could make a quick easy meal. It was really good!

FlowerArranger · 23/04/2020 07:20

Buy something for HER, not the babies!!

Best gift I got was a basket full of treat yourself bath thingies and luxurious body lotions and the like.

CroissantsAtDawn · 23/04/2020 07:23

From threads Ive read on here she d probably appreciate nappies! (As well as a present for herself)

cremuel · 23/04/2020 18:54

Sorry not to respond. Thanks a lot for the great suggestions. I’m swithering between a hamper full of treats or a weeks meals from Cook.

Meals from cook definitely.

FreeButtonBee · 23/04/2020 19:31

Ready meals were a godsend. Top of the range M&S ones or cook or Charlie Bingham if you can afford. Or a big pack of nice flapjack bars (ie individual ones which won’t go off). Fancy dried fruit nut and chocolate mixes in individual servings were Also great. Basically snacks you can grab and eat easily but not too unhealthy.

Squeaky eggs for the future - my kids have only just stopped playing with them at 7!

FreeButtonBee · 23/04/2020 19:31

Ooh yes. A nice cheese delivery would be awesome! With chutney and crackers.

SheldonSaysSo1 · 23/04/2020 19:31

Meals from somewhere like COOK, clothes for a few months time (so more summer stuff), more unusual gifts such as bath toys as they'll be interested in them in no time!

Foldinthecheese · 23/04/2020 19:41

A twin feeding pillow is very useful! Lots of people use them to help prop babies up so they can bottle feed them at the same time, but they are also nice to lean them against while they are playing. If she is breastfeeding, I had the My Breast Friend twin feeding pillow and it was brilliant.

MitziK · 23/04/2020 20:13

A nice box of stuff she can eat with one hand.

chutneypig · 23/04/2020 20:17

Anything food based I’d say. Preferably that you can eat with one hand as PP said. I got through a lot of custard creams. It’s a very kind thought and I’m sure will be very appreciated.

CurlyMango · 23/04/2020 20:29

I wanted foot cream. My feet got hard as no time to bath.....

Turtlesone · 23/04/2020 20:42

Meals from cook definitely!
I had twins and ready meal gifts were the best. Or just any food gifts as we really didn’t have time to prepare food in the first couple of weeks.

twinmum2017 · 23/04/2020 21:02

Cook meals for definite!
Best present ever! Providing they have freezer space. Maybe vouchers so they can order what they like the sound of

TooStressyTooMessy · 23/04/2020 21:03

Another vote for Cook vouchers.
