We have tidied up the Pile of Random Stuff from the living room table

We finally got round to it and it's taken about half an hour. I highly recommend it! We've put loads of stuff into the recycling and freed up quite a lot of space.

Well done! Mine's still a mess, at a quick glance there are hairbands, post and cards to send, vitamin pills, skincare stuff, pens, screen wipes, tea and chocolate, remote controls, paracetamol, Swiss army knife, lek and gas display.

You'll have to have a reward now

JigsawsAreInPieces · 22/04/2020 14:36

Mine is tidy until DH comes into the room.
He just dumps everything on it.
If you don't count my book, my knitting, my phone, my exercise band... Grin

I have what my cleaner refers to as ‘shit mountain’ it’s in a corner of my living room it’s toys, bit of lego, cat toys, the odd sock, vest etc.

My boyfriend has been eyeing it up for a while (he’s extremely tidy), he has sorted it into piles today.

We have
My socks
Sons socks
A t-shirt (no idea who it belongs to)
Lego
Paw patrol figures and car
Small packet of mini oreos
Pair of pants (mine)
Hulk Hogan
Sachet of fajita seasoning

It’s now in neat piles. Boyfriend is yet to say anything, wonder how long it will be before he asks if I’m going to put it away.

Difficultcustomer · 22/04/2020 14:39

Ours is generally in the kitchen but can migrate.

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 22/04/2020 14:41

Ooooh! Well done.
Mine is doing very well, thank you Smile

But yes, everytime I tackle it, 50% (at least ) goes straight in the various bins.

WarmSausageTea · 22/04/2020 14:52

I have re-organised the Cupboard of Christmas Toot, and found room for two boxes-worth of books that were previously stacked on the floor. I’ve also sorted out eight boxes of various stuff for the charity shop for when it re-opens. I really should tackle the Bedroom of Forgotten Clothes, but that will have to wait.

This isn’t even a stealth boast, it’s just a big old aren’t I good boast, but I don’t care, I’m am feeling very virtuous (smug) and well deserving of Gin later. Possibly not much later.

iklboo · 22/04/2020 14:57

I call DH a plonker. He just plonks everything on the kitchen table.

curdsandwhey · 22/04/2020 15:04

I’ve also sorted out eight boxes of various stuff for the charity shop for when it re-opens.

Which reminds me, the other day when we went out I saw that someone had left a pile of donations outside a charity shop. It's annoying when people do that anyway, but when exactly do these people think the donations are going to be collected? It's not as if the shop is going to be open for at least another month or two!

Having said that, when the shops do open again I reckon the charity shops will be absolutely inundated with donations.

We've had a skip since last Wednesday. We've binned so much, I can't tell you how good it feels ....... everywhere feel so light and airy Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/04/2020 15:14

Dh has crap corner in the kitchen. I hate crap corner.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 22/04/2020 15:15

I recently got rid of my very large oak coffee table with shelves during my living room renovation. I used the table and shelves for everything from admin to beauty station to half completed arts and crafts projects . I have gone from hoarder horror house to brand new autopsy room Blush. Utterly unrecognisable.

mrsbyers · 22/04/2020 15:39

I cleared my husbands table into a big cardboard box earlier in the week and it is already full of more utter crap again. When I say anything he always points out that my tiny side table has stuff on it - it does yes my box of medicines and a water bottle

SnugglySnerd · 22/04/2020 15:44

I cleared all the crap off the top of the microwave yesterday. There were 2 xmas decorations, assorted hair bands and Lego blocks, 3 pairs of sunglasses, 2 bunches of keys and various receipts and bits of paper. All tidy now. Let's see how long it lasts!

Elieza · 22/04/2020 16:04

I cleaned my kitchen table yesterday. Came down today forgetting I’d done it, and was pleasantly surprised by the new look table I can actually see the tabletop of.
But how long will it stay like this.....

Knittedfairies · 22/04/2020 16:07

My husband has a midden beside his chair; it's relatively small at the moment, but it can reach alarming proportions.

TerrorWig · 22/04/2020 16:07

I tidied out four boxes of paperwork yesterday, when I am allowed back into work I’ll take them in to shred them.

I found bank cards I didn’t realise had been delivered, a bank statement telling me an account will be made dormant if I don’t respond before November 2019, and lots and lots of duplicate bills for the mortgage etc.

Because my husband doesn’t look at anything and only tidies stuff away when I have a go at him so he misses anything important.

longcoffee · 22/04/2020 16:27

I've worked through all our cupboards and ruthlessly cleared out toot. They're half empty now and I'm gobsmacked at how much shite we crammed into a little house! Feel all smug every time I go to a cupboard or drawer now, my tinfoil/cling film/sandwich bag one is bringing me particular joy.

I'm eyeing the loft, but not sure I'm brave enough yet. Got nowhere to get rid of the inevitable mountains of crap that'll come out of there anyway!

mencken · 22/04/2020 17:35

I imagine the 'leave it outside the charity shop' (which is fuckwitted at any time) are the same as those who flytip because the dump is closed.

it is a pity that the virus isn't more selective.

WarmSausageTea · 22/04/2020 18:39

I reckon the charity shops will be absolutely inundated with donations.

I think this is very true, and I’ll probably ring around a few local ones to see if they need donations or not. I wondered about donating CDs to the local library, I assume they won’t take books.

And yes, leaving stuff outside charity shops now is a special kind of stupid.

confusedofengland · 22/04/2020 18:51

The library might well take books, for stock if excellent condition or book sale if not. The ones I work at do, anyway.

dementedma · 22/04/2020 18:54

It's our kitchen table which is the table of death. Even worse now as there is a half finished jigsaw on it, plus the usual fruit bowl ( which contains batteries and a pair of glasses along with apples, oranges, bananas and lemons), a pile of letters/bills, two pens, dh's laptop and beer glass, and a used teaspoon.

Sewrainbow · 22/04/2020 19:07

Our library takes books, I think they go through use the hood ones but offer others for sale cheaply

ScarfLadysBag · 22/04/2020 19:08

DH finally made me confront my Cupboard o' Crap at the weekend. Bastard.

It is nice now though. But still. Bastard.

RainMustFall · 22/04/2020 20:26

I will message you my address so you can come and do mine. It may take longer than half an hour Smile
