Hen party house refund

A number of us supposed to be attending a hen weekend in a UK party house in early July. We have all paid £100 deposit and will need to pay the balance of £190 any day now.
I'm not going regardless of whether the uk is in CV19 lockdown as I don't think I'll feel safe to go into a group of 20 women under the current circumstances-my own decision. There's a couple of pregnant women who now can't go as they are in self isolation till mid July at least. I'm not sure about the other guests feelings.
The only bridesmaid is the main organizer and is due to pay the full payment balance this week. The house owners haven't cancelled. Organizer is very low on contact and details with all the hens.
The two pregnant women and myself (maybe others too) told the organizer 6/7 weeks ago we wouldn't be attending and were happy to lose our deposit. Maybe others did the same, I don't know.
The organizer has a choice to just lose the deposit and cancel the weekend or pay in full and hope it goes ahead or if it's cancelled by the house owner she hopes to get the full money refunded.
She's decided to pay in full, without discussing this with the other members of the hen party.
There is talk that the wedding may be cancelled as it's in late August. But luckily they have insurance. The hen party has no insurance in place.
Would you pay the balance of £190 if asked to under these circumstances?
My feelings are that the hen weekend should be cancelled at this point instead of paying the full balance.

If you're no longer going then it doesn't matter right?

No, you shouldn’t have to pay. You’ve offered to sacrifice your deposit, and rightly so, but you’ve given plenty of notice that you won’t be attending, so there’s no need for you to pay the balance. I feel for the bridesmaid as organising hen weekends is a nightmare at the best of times let alone right now, but if she’s decided to pay the balance knowing that three people won’t be going, then it’s on her.

Under the circumstances she should have emailed everyone and gone for a majority vote. I normally feel that when people commit they stay committed but in these circumstances, cancelling is the obvious thing to do.

No - if she paid the balance without discussing with everyone and yourself and others told her weeks ago you wouldn’t be attending then she can’t expect those of you who cancelled to pay the balance.

I had a uk week away booked at Easter and the hotel won’t refund our deposit - they’ve said we have to book again when they’re up and running so even if the trip is cancelled by the owners due to covid, there’s no guarantee they’ll give you a refund but just tell you to rebook. I think a lot of people are finding this is happening. There may be a falling out over it but it depends how bothered you are by that?

Our of interest, what is a party house? Just a holiday rental home, or do they provide entertainment/food of some sort?

Under normal circumstances if I'd cancelled I'd certainly pay the full balance with no issue. But this isn't normal circumstances or times.
It's a really difficult one.
Amongst 20 adults there's bound to be differing views about what to do but no one has been given the opportunity to express their wishes.
I only know what's happening as my friend is the brides sister and she keeps trying to find out what's going on without being heavy handed or overtaking the decisions.
The bride is completely unaware of what's happening just that she's to be free that weekend.

I'd like to know what a party house is too! We have not even been told where it is. I'm on the periphery of the group so not going to put my head above the parapet.

So you were originally willing to spend £300 with no idea where the 'party house' is you what you were even getting for your money!!! Travel costs, was food included, additional fees!!! That in itself if bonkers Confused

No I wouldnt pay the remainder. I'd advise her that if she gets a full refund she can keep your deposit.
