Amazon scam, but what's the point?

Morning!

My poor cousin who lives in Germany has had her Amazon account hacked and 2x printer inks at 60 euro each sent, one to her work which she managed to cancel and one to our grandfather's house here in the UK- which we will now have to return, so she can have her money back.

What I don't understand though, is why this is beneficial to the scammer? They don't receive the product and we can just return it and get the funds back. Is this is a sign of something more sinister to come, has anyone else experienced this?

Does she know was it actually Amazon itself they were from or a third party using Amazon as a selling platform? There is something that some third parties try to build their standing with Amazon etc by sending goods that have not been ordered. There is some term for it that I cannot remember

Brushing I think! Someone once posted about receiving random Amazon items in the mail. I think it's so scammers can leave verified purchase reviews which pay much more than the product itself.

The only thing that is odd in this situation is they charge the card.
