How should I use my fancy new skincare stuff?

A friend has given me some Elemis skincare stuff after she had a reaction. I have a cleanser, day cream, night cream oil and a lactic acid peel. I have used them for two nights now and Oh. My. God. The difference is amazing! It feels like someone else's skin and I look so much brighter.

I went online to see what other products they have and saw how much it all costs, just the small set I have is over £200! I'll never be able to replace them once they run out, so should I use them all up in one go, or stretch them out for as long as possible? The directions say to use them every night, but I'm thinking maybe twice a week, or maybe just special occasions? Will they go off? After they run out it'll be back to my Asda face wash and olay cream 😁

Op I feel your pain. Champagne taste corporation pop budget! Might be worth having a nosey on depop/vinted can pick stuff up at a fraction of the price. I just only buy sealed and in date x

I’d probably use them every day and love the treat for as long as they lasted. You usually only need a tiny bit of very nice products so they’ll last a little while anyway. Nice skincare is a lovely treat.

@chunkyrun Ooh thank you I'll have a look!

I'm really impressed with it actually. I always thought expensive face creams were a rip off but the difference is amazing. Definitely top of my list once I win the lottery.

I’d use them up, but I’m not a saving for best person! Plus they probably won’t have much of an impact on your skin if you’re only using them now and then. Enjoy them, get the benefit, and when they run out if you post here I’m sure people will be able to recommend similar products that are more affordable.

gobbynorthernbird · 22/04/2020 08:12

I'm not sure about the peel, but cleansers and creams will go off so use and enjoy!

MaterMetella · 22/04/2020 08:16

Also follow QVC on Facebook as they have Elemis promotions quite regularly (I think about 4 times a year?) where you get a several products (usually incl cleanser, toner, moisturiser and a couple of others) heavily discounted. I think I paid £70 or so on stuff worth more than double that. X

NotInTheMorning · 22/04/2020 08:24

Oh yes, definitely try QVC! Also if you don’t use an acid normally that’s probably what’s making the biggest difference, on a limited budget that’s where I’d put my money.

TenCornMaidens · 22/04/2020 08:38

The style and beauty forum will be able to advise on dupes and best value replacements. But yyy to the acid probably being the main thing.

PurpleDaisies · 22/04/2020 08:41

Have you tried the Superdrug naturally radiant range? I switched from Estée Lauder and had the same reaction as you. Costs the same as Asda.

In the meantime, I’d just use them and enjoy them.

Fedupandpoor · 22/04/2020 12:12

Some fantastic advice here, thank you 😊

I might start putting £5 a week away to replace the acid once it runs out then.

QVC have a box at the moment (unless it's sold out as I've not looked for a few days) which includes an elemis product. Costs £35 and contains several products and a make up bag.

Norma27 · 22/04/2020 13:34

It has sold out sorry. Worth checking every so often for offers tho.

Hemlock2013 · 22/04/2020 13:46

Can you use the acid as well as a retinol?

The acid is on anazon and I’m really tempted after reading this!

There are companies like the ordinary and the inkey list who are doing (not very luxurious, but have the right active ingredients) products for not a lot of money. It might be worth having a look at their stuff. Ask on the style and beauty board, or have a look at someone like Caroline Hirons.
