EDF ENERGY

Hi all

I am currently with EDF energy and have a key/ card meter for my gas and electric.

My electricity is great - I usually top up about £30-£40 p/month and it’s usually enough and more.

Gas however is a killer. I am struggling to find ways to keep the costs down.

I work everyday and my child (6yrs old) is at school so the house is empty from 8am -7pm Monday - Friday. I then come home and turn on the heating myself. (it’s not on timed so no chance of switching on when the house is empty). The hot water is switched to OFF and I only turn it on half hour or so before I need to use hot water (bath/ washing dishes etc) however I find the gas goes so fast.

Does anyone know of any cheaper tarrifs/ providers I am able to switch to before winter please.

Please bare in mind this photo is only the gas statement.

I have a separate statement for my electricity.

Is it just me who thinks this is expensive ? Almost £700 in gas in 88 days and most of the day the gas is off and the house is empty ?

Thank you in advance

Are you providing regular readings? Check comparison sites for cheaper tariffs.

Also, prepayment is always the more expensive option.

The statement is incorrect, the summary says it's only 88 days but the total is from April 2019. The amounts equal around £300 from November

That does seem expensive OP. We have a prepayment gas meter with British Gas and top up around £20 a month. However we have a 1 bedroom flat and rarely switch on the heating.
Can you check you’re not paying off a previous debt? With our electricity meter which is with EDF the previous tenants had left a large debt and before I got it taken off we were having to top up £30 a week whereas now we’re paying around £5 a week

All the comparison websites should give you reasonable alternatives.
