Coping with toddler whilst injured

How can I cope with a toddler and a broken foot during lockdown? Parents are elderly and self isolating so can’t come over to help. Friends and neighbours obviously can’t come to help. DH is still working full time. I have crutches but walking is slow and painful. I can’t even catch DS to put his clothes on, he’s been wearing nothing but a nappy for the past hour.

Don't worry about clothes, you can't go out any way.

I had a similar situation last year and we got through it with lots of TV, snacks and I set up stuff when DD was asleep eg got her crayons and paper out ready, set up her farm etc. It was messy but we all survived. I hope you get better soon!

Newborn plus birth injuries and a toddler is not that different! You'll get through.

Throw all standards out the window, make your house super toddler proof so you don't need to get up so much (basically clear your living room).

Snacks and telly. Sticker books. Get DH to set up food and take toddler for regular runs around the garden/ jumping sessions/ whatever works.

Explain what's happening to toddler, he'll quickly get it and adapt, expecting different things from you.

Good luck!

Could you get a hold of a knee crutch? They’re weird looking things but basically your foot would be behind you (bent at the knee like you’re kneeling and) and it’s strapped on so it’s at least hands free.

Our hacked version was a barbers stool back in college.. it wasn’t the quickest but we could stand n use both hands vs crutches.

And honestly does it matter if he’s running about in his nappy all day? You’re likely not going anywhere and no ones coming round. As long as he’s clean n dry n fed.
