Child free evening - what to watch so I dont cry?

I am a single parent to two kids with Autism.
Their Dad, my exH has taken them to his (allowed under Covid rules)
so I've a child free evening for the first time in about 3 years
(exH is a twat of the first order)

I feel really tearful (as I've been holding it together and it needs out)
but...

I've a glass of red, some pistachios, something nice in the oven
and the chance to watch something that will take my mind of things - but, rather pathetically I'm overwhelmed by the chance / choice
WHAT do I watch??? (never watch TV so no idea - I DO have Netflix)

Dumplin? Is cute and easy to watch

Or Marriage story is great but might make you cry - although instead I actually laughed out loud at some parts which reminded me of my exh!

Tiger King! You'll be hooked.

Enjoy your evening.

I love dinner ladies for something gentle. Or Friday Night Dinner to make me laugh.

MissT2095 · 18/04/2020 21:32

I was about to say Friday Night Dinner.

Easy viewing and a silly giggle.

Enjoy your evening Wine

Last night I watched Phantom of the Opera on youtube. It's the recording of the show at the Albert Hall from a few years ago. I've never seen the show before and was blown away by the music. Enjoy!

Notlostjustexploring · 18/04/2020 21:47

Vicar of Dibley for me.

YorkshirePud1 · 18/04/2020 21:53

I second Dumplin for a great feel good film with a glass of wine!

Cnoc · 18/04/2020 22:24

Is Marriage Story on Netflix/Prime?

candle18 · 18/04/2020 22:31

The nest is good. It’s 5 parts, you’ll get it on catch up.

Midnightmusing · 18/04/2020 22:33

Another vote for Marriage Story from me. It is good and definitely not something you can keep track of and properly appreciate with kids around. It’s on Netflix.

merryhouse · 18/04/2020 22:33

Lucifer

I mean, I'm pretty sure it made me cry in places but if you start at the beginning you'll be nowhere near that point by the time the kids get back Grin

Cnoc · 18/04/2020 22:37

Thanks, @Midnightmusing — I missed it in the cinema, and didn’t realise it was on Netflix.

jamaisjedors · 19/04/2020 09:20

So what did you choose?

HaggisTheGreat · 19/04/2020 09:32

Marriage Story made me cry...

tigerbear · 19/04/2020 09:53

I’m kind of at a loss as to why PP are recommending Marriage Story. It’s not exactly feel good!

Tiger King all the way Smile
