Chicken pox incubation period longer than 3 weeks?

Hi all, hope you are keeping safe.
I am a bit puzzled so thought I would reach out for some advice.
My 10 year old Son has what appears to be chicken pox, about 10 spots in total. He has had chicken pox before about a year ago and they do look familiar. The thing is myself and the children have been self- isolating at home for 4 weeks now and haven’t left the house. My husband goes out to get the weekly shopping once a week and doesn’t leave the house at any other time. Could this be chickenpox even though the last time my Son has contact with anybody else was 28 days ago?? At the back of my mind I am also aware that hives type spots can be a sign of coronavirus. Has anybody else encountered chicken pox with a very long incubation period?
Thank you in advance!

Are the spots localised in one area? Could be childhood shingles if they are

dermentedpixie - thank you for the reply - he has them on his tummy area, side and under his armpit. They definitely look like chickenpox to me but the incubation period has flummoxed me!

If they are only on one side of the body and follow the line if a nerve then it sounds like shingles. My ds had them age 3 - on his side running from his chest and under his armpit

dementedpixie - wow, thank you. Yes it is in a bit of a line on one side of his body. Thank you so much
