Freezing a supermarket loaf?

We're trying to do a shop every two weeks if possible. The only thing we run out of is bread (Toast every morning). I know you can freeze bread but no idea how. It says on the bag to freeze in its own packaging but I don't how it will fare. Will I be able to take one or two slices out and toast straight from frozen or thaw the entire pack after I run out of my fresh one?

Any ideasSmile

I read somewhere bread is one of the only food items you can refreeze several times (although it reduces the quality). Never tried it as bread doesn't last long here.

we freeze all our supermarket sliced bread and put it frozen directly into the toaster each morning I do this too all year round.

This is why toasters have a frozen button

I like to decant into freezer bags in groups of four, ready for breakfast smile If you freeze it all together it's best to thaw all together. You can break a slice off here and there but it involves a knife and nerves of steel! Frozen bread can go straight in the toaster it tastes just the same toasted

This is why I kept a couple of old blunt knives that were very thin, ideal for frozen bread and allsorts of frozen stuff

We always put ours straight in the freezer as it is and take out slices as we need them. It's never a problem. They defrost in the microwave in about 20 seconds and don't go hard, or we just stick then straight in the toaster.

I just separate the loaf up and put the slices in freezer bags. But then again if your freezers big enough, just pop the whole loaf in. Frozen bread separates quite easily.
