Gallstones pain relief?

Hi folks, can anyone recommend an effective way to relieve gallstones pain? I am doubled in agony! It is worse than labour!!!!!

I don’t want to trouble GP/NHS at this time of course.

Thanks!

Feel for you, worst pain ever! I found apple cider vinegar helped - literally having a shot of it neat when the pain started. Also A and E gave me diclofenic suppositories to take home before I had my gall bladder out, I know they not the nicest things but they stopped the pain so quickly. Only other thing that worked was codeine on prescription. Hope you out of pain asap xx

Honestly in he middle of an attack only intravenous pain relief worked because my digestive system would shut down and forcibly reject anything swallowed. Paracetamol would do it, but it had to be administered at hospital. A suppository might have worked but was never offered that as an option.

If your attack is that bad get to A&E so they can at least remove the pain for you. They'll also make a note that your attacks have started back up to build up evidence for your gall bladder to be removed.

The only thing which touched the sides for me during attacks was IV morphine, oramorph helped if I got it very very early (I was sent home with it whilst awaiting surgery)

I don't think this is one the NHS would expect you to not ask for help on. The pain is horrific, truly terrifying.

In your 30s is not unusual, especially if you've had children. Mine actually went during my second pregnancy but they missed it and patronisingly diagnosed indigestion. Ended up having it removed when DD was 5 weeks old.

Please ring 111 or go to a and e. I was having an attack which turned out to be an infected gallbladder.

4 days in hosp with iv antibiotics and oramorph. Returned 2 weeks later to have it out.

If it hurts that much, you have anyone stuck. Call and talk to someone

It’s such a dreadful pain. I had gallstones actually blocking my bile duct. I was really poorly and ended up with pancreatitis. I wouldn’t wait for too long before seeking medical help, especially if the pain continues through the night

ethelredonagoodday · 16/04/2020 23:27

I had pancreatitis causes by gallstones. Mine were only 'sludge', but bad enough to get me taken in an ambulance to hospital and put on morphine on arrival. Nil by mouth for 4 days stabilised next snd 2 weeks later I had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery. I'd had two kids pre this, but the pain from the gallstones was BAAAD. If it gets unbearable ring the hospital OP. Good luck.
