Does anyone else have trouble watching plays?

I'm always so aware that they're acting. I tried to watch the NT production of Jane Eyre, which I'm sure is excited, but the moment an actress started making sounds to imitate a crying baby, I had to switch it off.

Does anyone else have this problem?

No, it did take me 15 mins or so to tune into Jane Eyre but once I got into it, it was an amazing, very clever production. I really enjoyed it. Two Gov'nors was great as well , as was Jesus Christ Superstar

I think I’ve seen about five plays that I didn’t get fed up with and wanted to walk out of. I’ve only actually walked out of two, one was an insufferably smug production at the RST in unnecessarily contrived costumes. I find theatre seats uncomfortable and can’t sit still for long which doesn’t help.

I love plays. but hated the Jane Eyre production, although I loved "Two Guv'nors" the week before. I like theatre to be a visual treat, with interesting costumes and sets, and ladders and platforms in Jane Eyre just didn't engage me. I too turned it off.

I loved Jane Eyre. The carriage bits were brilliant and the actress playing here was amazing.

My favourite play ever was Jerusalem. I'd pay good money to have that on tv right now.
