Any doctors or nurses around? Rash on baby (not visible under glass)

My daughter has had a high temperature over the last few days which has now gone back to normal. I spoke to our GP on Tuesday morning who said it's more than likely to be a normal viral infection (not CV but no way to know for certain). She's been much better today. However, just went to give her a bath and her dad noticed a minor rash around her torso. It's also on her lower back, genital area and neck. NOTE,: it disappears under glass.

My son had a rash a couple of years ago after a viral infection, doctor said it was a reaction his body was having to the infection.

Tried ringing NHS for advice but they're insanely busy. As silly as it sounds, I'm worried they'll tell me to go in and be exposed to CV. Does any doctors or nurses might know what it is?

Looks like prickly heat or viral rash

That's what my son had before. Normally wouldn't hesitate to get her seen at OOH but afraid at the moment because of CV

Well I think that as long as you’re happy that your dd is behaving normally, is eating, drinking, going to the toilet and has no real signs of being ill, then give it a couple of days and if no change seek help.

If there is any chance at all you feel she is poorly, seek help sooner rather than later

Not a nurse or doctor, sorry, but my DS has the same looking thing a few months ago one day - I was convinced he was developing chicken pox, but then it was gone the next day. If it disappears under a glass and she’s got no temperature I would just wait and see until tomorrow. Obviously if she begins to seem unwell in herself then it’s best to seek medical advice - I got an NHS text from my surgery the other day urging people to still get in touch if worried about a child’s health because Covid is putting people off and people aren’t getting their kids seen to when they really should. They will have things in place to keep you as safe as possible.

My dd had the exact same thing about a month ago, I was about to take her to gp and it starting going, my sis who is a nurse said the same, viral rash and should clear up on Its own. She's had a temp too. If it's not appearing better in a day or 2, or if your worried just phone the gp back.

Took 4 or 5 days to go fully and she had a bit of dry skin afterwards, that's gone now too.

But do phone the gp if you're worried or think she's getting worse in any way.

Looks like a general viral rash which fits with the symptoms and what your go has said

Howmanysleepsnow · 16/04/2020 19:32

Yes, viral rash.

Thank you everyobe. She's better now and the rash has gone. She's back to being her demanding, busy and mischievous self Smile
