Toothache of doom.

I have a sore tooth for a while, have been to the dentist a few times recently and they couldn’t see anything just thought it was sensitive. However it’s now so sore I’m finding it difficult to function, I’m taking inbuprofen and codeine, doing the salt water swills etc. (None of which stop the pain). I’ve spoken to several dentists over the phone but no one can look at it. I know I’m the grand scheme of things it’s not that important, but I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself as I’m looking a fair few more weeks of this.

I’m not surprised you’re feeling sorry for yourself, dental pain is horrible. Did your dentist X-ray it when you went previously?

I’m surprised you can’t access some kind of emergency dental service. Have you had any communication from your usual surgery telling you who to contact in an emergency? I had one from my dentist a couple of weeks ago.

Me too Magic. The best I’ve been offered is antibiotics and strong painkillers. Dentists can’t see or treat anyone. And if you can get a referral to a dental hub, they will only offer extraction in extreme circumstances.
Sadly that’s the fallout at the moment. I have cried with pain today. I understand the reasoning behind the lack of intervention but it all seems barbaric.

I’ve cried with the pain of it too. The dentists I’ve spoken to on the phone say to keep taking painkillers, and yes, treatment would only happen if it was infected and swollen.
