Does this look normal?

I'm unsure if this warrants a call to 111 or my GP.

2.5 yr old complained about mouth hurting (not too much complaining, just last night at bedtime and just now). Her inner lip is covered in little bumps. No inflammation or redness and she's not drooling and she's eating normally (usual sparrow portions).

Anyway, her inner lip isn't smooth as it should be and it's given me pause for thought. Anyone recognise what this is and should I call a GP?

Thanks.

Does she have blisters on her hands or feet?

RoseMartha · 16/04/2020 14:04

Could be small mouth ulcers

BrazenBrat · 16/04/2020 14:06

No. Both are as normal.

If they look like tiny blisters it could be something I had a while ago. Gingivostomatitis I think it was called. It's caused by the same herpes virus that causes coldsores and is apparently quite common in small children. Mine was really red though and burned! Possibly the start of it?

Ooh and thinking about it, fresh pineapple made my lips do this once! Only fresh, not tinned. It went away by the next day

Yikes, sounds a little alarming!
Oh and no pineapple.
Quite strange.

Can you change the thread title to - calling nurses or skin specialists or something? Might get a better response xx

False alarm I hope.
Took another look inside her lip last night and saw a tiny, new ulcer.... I'd completely missed seeing it as it's kind if hidden in a little nook of her inner lip.
So I'm none the wiser about the bumps but I doubt it's sinister.
Thanks for the concern x
