Randoms online are more keen to make personal attacks than usual

Oh dear, that's two randoms I don't know who've decided to have a go at me for no reason/excessively. I know this sometimes happens online, but this seems more random than usual.

I think maybe it's some people's way of feeling less bored. They need a hobby, or to find some programmes to watch.

Just posting as an observation really.

I have noticed this on Gransnet too, definitely getting worse.

FaFoutis · 16/04/2020 14:35

new site? I'm interested.

TheMostHappy · 16/04/2020 14:37

Yeah definitely picked up on this the past few days myself. I'm a much hated admin on a community page and I've just had to stand down due to the vitriol of some members who have now spurred off and set up their own page to bitch about our group. I've had to come away from a while.

Thanks!

It is often the first person to post after the op. I think they search for unanswered threads and get in as quickly as they can.

It's probably the type of people that bitch at the school gates but with schools being shut, they're bored.

terkwoys · 16/04/2020 14:51

I've noticed this a lot lately.

Thread A - "Would it be all right to let my mum come over, new baby won't sleep and I'm at the end of my tether, I'm desperate and haven't slept for a week!"
Answers along the vein of: "WTF do you not understand about lockdown?", "No she can't vist you ffs", " It's people like you who are spreading this".

Thread B - "My neighbour has just had her mum round again, she's always popping in and out - should I report this?"
Answers along the vein of: "What's it got to do with you?" "No, keep your nose out" "Haven't you got anything better to do?".

People are just keen to find a reason to put the boot in.

Sometimes they even forget to name change. On one thread someone was really slagging off teachers and on another thread she was saying how awful the teacher bashers were!

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 16/04/2020 15:06

👍

LockedInMadness · 16/04/2020 15:07

I had someone from one of the Facebook groups that I'm a member of laying into me for no reason a few days ago. Accusing me of 'selling my shit products' and questioning my sanity. I was Confused as I've never sold anything on Facebook in my entire Facebook history! I reported him and it turns out he'd got his facts totally wrong, but it just proved to me that people are very quick in the current climate to fly off the handle. It was first time that anyone had had a go at me like that.

MogeatDog · 16/04/2020 16:00

Mind you I've had well know MN teachers rip me to shreds when I posted about something that happened. Six months later I mentioned the incident on another thread and the same two teachers fully backed me up - and ripped the OP to shreds.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/04/2020 16:03

I've spotted this as well. Very snippy tone and I've had some really patronising responses to a few posts I've made. I don't post much so it's noticeable! I've put it down to lock down grumps!

MogeatDog · 16/04/2020 16:15

Have checked out the other side - I hope it stays a more pleasant place.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 16/04/2020 16:16

Mn has gone bonkers. Twitter seems nicer even tho its known for being absolutely brutal.
