Will a 16 yr old be allowed to collect elderly relative's prescription from the chemist?

Chemist is really busy and therefore not answering phone. I would hate for DS16 to queue for 30 mins to get in & leave empty handed. It's blood pressure medication not morphine or anything like that. Does anyone know? He doesn't have any ID but they never ask me for any when I collect - just name and address.

Should be fine. I certainly remember collecting prescriptions for my Gran when I was in my teens.

Yes it's fine - as long as he knows her name and address

Our chestnuts ask for ID. Under 16's are not allowed to collect.

Ok thanks will give it a go. I'll get his grandma to send him an email authorising it and confirming his age. It'll do him good to do something useful.

We would not accept a letter for proof of age. I hope he gets it, but I would maybe call in advance to check.

I work in an NHS children’s mental health clinic and we cannot give prescriptions to anyone under 18yrs. Ie, the prescription is for someone under 18, but we have to hand it to parent or someone over 18.

I used to work in a pharmacy and we d allow it for 16 year olds related to regular patients if it wasn't a new medicine.

Just to update - it was no problem. They just asked for grandma's name and address. Thanks.
