Othodontists advice please - Bracket has come off DDs tooth...

Hello, I'm after some advice from any Orthodontists please...
Last night a bracket came off DDs tooth. The tooth in question is further back than the others and it is supposed to be being pulled forward into the gap, so the bracket would have been under more tension than the others. (And was only fitted just before lockdown).

The bracket is now hanging loose on the wire. Its not catching on anything currently (as its way in front of the tooth it should be on) and is just a bit annoying for her.
The tooth / bracket in question is the second from left on the top row in the photo.

Our dentist is closed, with a mobile number to ring for Emergencies - which I don't think this is at the current time.
Googling suggests that normally, we would make an appointment to get this refixed ASAP.

So my question is - is it OK to just leave it hanging at the moment / for several weeks? Is there anything else we should do about it? What problems do we need to watch out for?

Any advice is appreciated, thank you

Email the orthodontist. I emailed my dd's with a question and they got back me same day with an answer.

Three of mine did this when I was young. My mum and dad didn’t have time to take me so it was left and did no harm.

Thank you both for your advice.
I've sent them an email but their address is info@'dentist practice' and I'm not sure if anyone will be checking these at the moment since they are closed.

Any further advice would be appreciated.

I guess if it starts causing a problem / irritating her then might be the time to call the dentist's emergency number for advice.

This happened to my dd's, when I rang they said if it was not bothering her or hurting then to leave it until her next appointment (which was 7 weeks away!) It was fine for a few days then started digging into the side of her mouth and causing a sore. They gave us an emergency appt to just trim the wire, still don't do anything about fixing it until next appt.

I know this is all different now in lockdown but my point is, it is obviously ok to leave for a longer period of time.

My dd was due to have her braces off tomorrow which she was desperate for 😩

I'm sure they will respond to your email.

If they have only recently been fitted there will be plenty of time to correct any none movement of the lateral tooth.Just be careful when brushing as the bracket is loose on the wire and only held on by the silver module. It can't go anywhere other than up and down on the little space in-between the teeth either side unless it falls off.
Its not ideal and would usually be fixed asap but not an emergency either.Just keep an eye on it , if it starts to rub her lip get a big blob of ortho wax and cover the bracket with it that will stop it moving alone the wire as well Grin

Thanks all for your advice. She's had the braces for just over a year now, but this particular tooth which is behind the others has only just had a bracket put on it, now that the others have been moved to make a space for it.
I've told her she will just have to put up with it and she seems OK with that.
@silver1977 , I can imagine your daughter is pretty fed up being stuck with her braces for longer than she needed.

If you remove the little elastic band from around the loose bracket with a pair of tweezers, the loose bracket will come off the wire and not be so annoying. Just keep it in a little envelope for when you eventually get back to the orthodontist.
