Period pains!!! Oh the wows

Having had the coil last year l have very rarely have a period. Now with all the stress and anxiety of having to work (food retail, covid-19, bloody people and 2 children, 4 of my family working NHS front line) l think it’s brought on a period. But OMG the pain, l’m 44 this just isn’t something l need right now.

My dh is on nights and he is having to leave for work in 3 hours. I’m exhausted l need some chocolate, we only got the kids one egg so they have eaten them, darn it.

My dc can both tell the time so l can’t put the clock forward for an earlier bed time, plus we have already played the quiet game.

I know there’s worse people off than me right now l really do, this is why l don’t want to moan to my husband before he goes to work in a hospital. I can’t tell my sister as she is a nurse On a covid-19 ward and l don’t want to be a selfish prig.

I know this is really self indulgent and lm not expecting any replies, l just need a moan.

Bloody OUCH.

You have my sympathy! In the place of chocolate do you have hot chocolate?! That can work? Otherwise I suggest biscuits, crisps or any form of carbs and sugar you have, a hot water bottle and a trashy feel good film! Hope you feel better soon

Can you get any mefanamic acid from the doctor? Its absolutely horrible so you have my sympathy.

Ibruprofen better than paracetamol. Heat pad. Let the kids watch something to keep them still and quiet, just do what you have to do to get through it!

Arh thanks ladies, yes l have taken paracetamol and l have a hot water bottle and a blanket. The only think l have resembling chocolate is Nutella and that’s just not for me.

I know l will be fine in the morning it only last the first day usually. Buy just Eugh.

Getting it out has helped, so thanks for reading and replying.

Oh I remember those days (thankfully long gone) the dragging pain like your innards we’re going to be pushed out. Above is right ibuprofen is better than other pain killers, plus a hot water bottle. (Gins good) hope your better soon.

TaTuirseOrm · 15/04/2020 17:45

For one day a month, at the very first niggle, I need to take 3 paracetamol, followed two hours later by 2 ibuprofen and then alternate between the two for the day, until bed time. I know I take too much but it's only one day a month, because if that pain gets a hold I will be curled up in a ball panting through the pain like I'm in labour!
Hope you find a lost bar of chocolate hiding at the back of the fridge or something 🍫😊

EnidButton · 15/04/2020 18:05

Take ibuprofen as well. It's better for the inflammation.

I take buscopan for cramps too and that works very well. So if you can get some of that in for next month just in case. (It says it's for ibs on the box but nhs page says it helps period cramps.)

Hope you feel much better soon. CakeFlowers

A raging hot bath sometimes helps me too. I've been known to be in the bath at 3am (endometriosis), until the pills kick in. Then I got water bottle until the contractions subside enough that I drift to sleep.

It's shit. You have my sympathy. Periods don't care a damn about covid.

Likethebattle · 15/04/2020 22:32

I get awful cramps and find 600mg of ibuprofen, 1000mg of paracetamol and two buscopan helps (the ibuprofen instructions say 400mg but you can take more),
