I'd rather not, but I could if I had to...

cheeseychovolate · 15/04/2020 11:31

Yes

midgebabe · 15/04/2020 11:31

Yes. Not sure I understand the problem?

RandomMess · 15/04/2020 11:31

Yep

Bakedpotatoandgin · 15/04/2020 11:32

Yes, and I have done in the past

PotteringAlong · 15/04/2020 11:32

Of course I could Hmm

I might not choose to, but if it’s a choice between that and a cardboard box on the street I’d be fine.

isittheholidaysyet · 15/04/2020 11:32

Yes. Especially if the laundry room was on the same floor as bedroom.

We lived in a townhouse for a while with lounge on first floor and kitchen on ground floor. That was annoying. But as long as kitchen, lounge and dining room are on the same floor it would be fine.

(If you have small kids, then you need small kid bedrooms on same floor as parents bedroom.)

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 15/04/2020 11:32

It would be a big turn off for me but if I had no choice of course I could.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 15/04/2020 11:32

Depends whether there was any way of accessing outdoor space from the living room (blacony patio etc) and if i had kida

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 15/04/2020 11:33

Depends. Lots of these kind of houses are built that way to take full advantage of the view from the living areas, so make perfect sense. Also, being someone who likes to sleep (even in winter) with the window open, it would depend on the area/security of the property for me. But I wouldn’t rule it out.

Collision · 15/04/2020 11:34

Ooh yeah

Why not?

Tableclothing · 15/04/2020 11:35

Is the kitchen upstairs as well? Because that would be a royal pain in the arse, getting the shopping in.

user1493413286 · 15/04/2020 11:35

No I don’t like sleeping on the ground floor and if the kitchen was on the ground floor I can envisage a lot of spillages when I take drinks up the stairs

CormoranStrike · 15/04/2020 11:37

Yes, especially if upstairs living maximised an amazing view

RoseMartha · 15/04/2020 11:38

Not out of choice

Sally872 · 15/04/2020 11:39

Our downstairs is cooler than upstairs, we are often too warm at night so would be good in that sense. Possibly better views. Possibly more secure if well known these houses have that layout. And easier to escape a fire.

I can't see any negatives to be honest.

Chewbecca · 15/04/2020 11:39

Not my first choice but if there was a great reason like an amazing view and it was practical, then I might choose it.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 15/04/2020 11:41

I do!
The bedrooms are cooler during the summer. We get the most natural light in our living space. Works for us.

LoveFameTragedy · 15/04/2020 11:41

A friend of mine did as a child. It still seemed ok though because the front door was on the upstairs level (steep hill) and they had the most amazing view I have ever seen in a house from the living room and dining room.

I live in a townhouse and hate having the living room upstairs.

ExpletiveDelighted · 15/04/2020 11:42

Yes, I have done in the past, house built on a hillside with living rooms upstairs for the view.

NataliaOsipova · 15/04/2020 11:43

We stayed in a house like this on holiday. It was fine, although one of the bedrooms was a bit dark. But better that in a spare room than one of the living rooms.

Oldraver · 15/04/2020 11:44

I live in a house with two bedrooms downstairs and two up, in the roof so to speak.

I could see that the house would be really nice with all bedrooms downstairs and the kitchen/living room in the roof.

The only thing that would put me off is that we tend to wander into the garden a lot and this would be a pain from upstairs

Tashtegotoo · 15/04/2020 11:45

I do this now, it's great.

Reginabambina · 15/04/2020 11:47

In a built up area I’d prefer this, more light to living spaces that way. In general I prefer having bedrooms not on the ground floor though. And where there is a garden I prefer access from the living room.

landoflostcontent · 15/04/2020 11:48

I did! Like PP it was built on the side of a hill. Big plus point - easy escape from both levels as DD had terrible fear of fire. Slight minus points, kitchen over one of the bedrooms not conducive to sleep with insomniacs rampaging above. Also washing machine leaks cause damage on two levels. Loved that house though
