Will your toddler watch any tv?

I always was of the opinion that I'd limit tv or screen time to the bare minimum before LO was born.. now I'm trying anything to get him to watch even 10 minutes of something!

Does anyone else's 15 month old not give a damn about tv??

Try cocomelon on YouTube, my 2 year old will watch it for hours if allowed!

CillaBall · 14/04/2020 21:55

My toddler has only just got into watching a bit and he’s 21 months

Crimsonnightlotus · 14/04/2020 21:56

I would worry if a 15 months old shows no interest at all.

My DS never wanted to watch TV. Probably first thing he would watch was Peppa Pig. There was no such thing as down time or chill out time, He dropped his lunch nap at just after 2 but wouldn't even watch TV for half hour then (just to relax). So I can sympathise. I do think it's better to have an active child rather than a TV addict... it does get easier eventually!

Marpan · 14/04/2020 22:01

Peppa pig for perhaps 10 second bursts.

Teletubbies makes him sit still when I try to get him to eat.

TV or screen is good for kids. Mine had so much good influence from it. Learn to read watching it with subs, playing game with text. Got great vocab, interest in art and music. Don't know why people some want to limit it in the first place.

My 15 month old loves the baby club, has done since he was tiny. Have mixed success with other stuff - mainly his older brothers choices but they did both sit still and watch the whole of zog (30 minutes) the other day.

DD is 14mo and we both enjoy a bit of Sarah and Duck Grin

DailyKegelReminder · 14/04/2020 22:18

Not until recently, shes 2. I remember listening to other parents talk about limiting TV screen time or banning it completely etc and thinking I wish mine would watch it, just for 5 minutes at least.

Merename · 14/04/2020 22:19

Second cocomelon, painful Americanised nursery rhymes but recently discovered it as something that both 18mo and 4yo old will watch together for a while.

bookmum08 · 14/04/2020 22:33

I remember babysitting my cousin's girl when she was around that age. I had one of the music channels on. She loved it.

givemewaffles · 14/04/2020 22:42

We've just got Disney plus and our 15 month old DD is fixated on the animal documentaries! They are Disney-fied so no killing or anything haha. They are the only thing she will watch solidly for a god 15 mins! No luck other than that though.

Victoria6386 · 14/04/2020 22:49

My 12 month old loves a few things but refuses to watch anything else, so maybe just try different things and see what he likes

feelinguseless78 · 14/04/2020 22:53

My eldest (4now) was almost 3 before he would watch any TV. My 15month old isn't interested at all.

Wowthisisreal · 14/04/2020 22:53

Little Baby Bum. My 15mo is OBSESSED. It's terrible really but I could buy an hour of time with that I reckon.

He'll also sit through a couple of episodes of Hey Duggee. That's about it.

poppet31 · 14/04/2020 22:55

My son has just turned 3 and is only now starting to watch a bit of tv. Even now, the most he will manage is one episode of something short like tee and mo on CBeebies. He will occasionally watch a full episode of peppa or a bit of little baby bum on Netflix if he has a snack!

Quailpoop · 14/04/2020 23:01

My eldest loved tv from around 10 months old, but my other two didn't take any notice of it until they were 2yo, so seems normal to me.

peajotter · 14/04/2020 23:07

Couldn’t get any of mine to watch tv before they were 2.

Can’t get any of them off it now.

Mammyloveswine · 14/04/2020 23:08

My 2 are 4 and 2 and aren't too bothered... they'll watch the odd mr tumble/blippi/crazy YouTube video but couldn't watch a film!

shreddednips · 14/04/2020 23:15

I second Little Baby Bum, but the think my 15 month old DS loves is The Wiggles on Netflix. It's the most annoying thing in the world (although my DH is oddly fond of it and talks about the Wiggles as though he knows them personally) but it is a lifesaver.

Does your DC like music? Mine will dance to anything, so bunging on something with people singing live is always popular.
