Success stories after miscarriage

HiSmile
So, 2 weeks ago I found out at our 9 week scan that our baby did not have a heartbeat and stopped developing at 7weeks+6days.
Two days later I had a D&C.
It was my first time getting pregnant and I feel absolutely devastated. I am now wondering if there is something wrong with me and if I will be able to conceive again.
I’m looking for some success stories for some encouragement Flowers
My mind is running in all directions and I’m struggling to control my thoughts around this.
Any success stories or encouraging words would be great Halo

Obviously it's different for everybody, but I had a very similar experience in my first pregnancy (found out at the 12 week scan, had a D&C). We waited until the next month to try again, happily conceived again straight away, and had a very straightforward pregnancy. And then another three years later with DD2. I was very anxious with DD1, though, and had quite bad PND. Maybe it would have happened anyway, but in hindsight I wish I'd sought more help and worked through my feelings and anxieties after the MC.

It's a horrible thing to go through, but also unfortunately very common, and by itself it's unlikely to mean that you won't have a successful pregnancy in future. Take care of yourself.

I’m sorry for your loss
I had a mmc at 12 weeks with surgical intervention.
Got pg again ( no idea it was possible and only dtd once) 1 week later and she’s now 15!!

Sorry for your loss. I had a MMC end of feb, chemical in May then conceived in June. My 5 week old is currently snoozing on my lap. Recurrent miscarriage is uncommon so chances are your next pregnancy will be successful.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My first pregnancy, I had a scan at 10 weeks and was told that there was something wrong. They wanted to do another scan a week later, but a few days before that I started bleeding and miscarried.

One year later, almost to the day, I gave birth to DD, who is now 15, after a perfectly normal pregnancy.

Umnoway · 14/04/2020 15:48

I’m so sorry for your loss.

I had two missed miscarriages like you discovered at the 12 week scan, heartbeat stopped at 7 and 9 weeks. I then had a successful pregnancy with my now 17 month old. Had a chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks last year but am now 25 weeks pregnant.

It’s different for everyone but the odds are always in your favour, do remember this going forward. 1 in 4 end in miscarriage but that also means 3 in 4 don’t!

I had two MC, one at 7 weeks and one at 17, but I was approaching 40 at the time. I then went on to have two healthy and straightforward pregnancies.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy at 11 weeks and had to have an ERPC. I now have 21yr old and 19yr old DSs! With DS2 I thought I was going to lose him - terrible bleeding, I even fell down the stairs twice whilst pregnant but the stubborn bugger held on tight and is here to tell the tale, in fact he was the most accident prone child ever - he's in med school now wanting to be a doctor! You won't ever forget this little one but I'm wishing you all the very best for the future.

ItchyScratch · 14/04/2020 17:47

I had two kids then a MC at 8 weeks.

As I had two kids it was unexpected and shocking.

However, I read that a huge majority of people conceive much easier after a MC and sure enough I became pregnant one month later
(Where as it had taken me 6 months to get pregnant with the MC)

I believe in fate and what is meant to happen will happen

Sorry for your loss Flowers. My first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage found at the 12 week scan. I conceived again a few months later and had a straightforward pregnancy. My son is now 2. I have since had two more miscarriages at 6 and 9 weeks and am now 38 weeks pregnant.

As PP have said, miscarriages are common but the odds remain in your favour and the chances are there is nothing wrong with you at all. Having said that, my first miscarriage affected me very much and, looking back, I was detached from my son’s pregnancy and should perhaps have sought help- even just talking to friends/my husband more about how I was feeling. Take it slowly and make sure you ask for support if you need it.

Ineverdidmind · 14/04/2020 18:00

I'm so sorry. It is devastating isn't it.

I've had two miscarriages, one at 12 weeks, the next at 10 weeks. I now have two lovely kids, so please dont lose hope.
I understand how hard it is, I had some dark days after my second mc. Hang in there. Xxx

Am so sorry for your loss. Please know that this is a common experience for many many women. 25% to 40% of pregnancies end up in miscarriage as the body rejects embryos that are not viable or have serious issues. This is not comforting exactly but am trying to say it's not your fault and there is nothing wrong with you. Your body is just working the way it's supposed to work: reducing chances of serious issues in your (eventual) baby. I have had two miscarriages but carried my third and he is now a wonderful little 22 months old. Take time to grieve but be comforted knowing that you can get pregnant. That is already a positive.

Good luck and hugs

KeeefBurtain · 14/04/2020 18:07

Im so sorry for your loss. It's a horrible club to be a part of but unfortunately quite a high one.

After 3 successful pregnancies it was a huge shock when I miscarried my 4th pregnancy at 11+4.

I'm presuming the baby had stopped developing a good few weeks before, as I mc naturally at home and didnt have a physically hard time (mentally is a different story)

I fell pregnant again 4 months later and my little Elspeth is about to turn 1.

Teadrinka · 14/04/2020 18:26

I am sorry for your loss. I'm a bit older (58) & had a MC, a further 3 'proper' miscarriages and an ectopic PG. However, I went on to have my wonderful son who is now nearly 25. I wonder if the accuracy of PG tests are helpful in some ways? I really feel for women who know that they're in the very early stages of pregnancy only to 'come on' a few weeks later. In 'my day' tests didn't work until about 2 weeks after you'd missed a period. Many people would be 'late' & then have a period that was probably a miscarriage at the very early stages. The sense of loss & heartbreak is no different no matter how early you lose your baby. I suggest that you take a couple of months to grieve for your loss & to let your body recover before you try again. Good luck I'm sure that everything will work out eventually.
