I am going for Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto Number 2 as the Top choice please

Or variations on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Vaughan Williams

At Number 20 now - Misere

Anyone else listening?

Me! I don't normally have a chance to listen, as we're often away, so very much enjoying it this year.

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 16:58

It's always my Bank Holiday Easter Monday treat.

It had better not be the Lark again Grin

I'd be happy with Rach 2, have also heard my second choice (Chopin 2) and my favourite Chopin Nocturne already. I did like it when Mozart's Clarinet Concerto was in the top 3 too.

I've missed two live concerts at the Liverpool Phil since lockdown. Missing this treat that I indulge in when I can!

Beethoven is doing well as usual.

I am looking for Clair de Lune - but I think that was much earler

OP posts:
Clawdy · 13/04/2020 18:13

I do love the Lark though.

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 18:15

Beethoven again....

Moonlight Sonata

Which is rather good though

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 18:23

Ah. Number 10 , I think

OP posts:
Zhx3 · 13/04/2020 18:27

I love the Mozart, so joyful!

Zhx3 · 13/04/2020 18:46

Also like the Lacrimosa playing now. I heard a youth choir from Wrexham singing it at the Chester Music Festival a few years ago, they were excellent. Quite surprised it's in the top 10!

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 18:50

Swan Lake - anyone else think of Billy Elliot when this is played

OP posts:
Zhx3 · 13/04/2020 18:56

Swan Lake made me think that when this is all over I need to go and see it!

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 19:01

I would love to see 1812 live.

With field artillery. This has dropped a lot though.

OP posts:
chomalungma · 13/04/2020 19:02

I remember we studied this at school. How to kill the enjoyment of a piece of music.

OP posts:
Zhx3 · 13/04/2020 19:07

Do you remember the peanut butter advert that used this?!

gailforce1 · 13/04/2020 19:08

Many, many years ago saw the 1812 live at Leeds Castle - just amazing!

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 19:11

6 to go.

Enigma Variations
Lark
Rachmaninff

OP posts:
chomalungma · 13/04/2020 19:11

Plus Thomas Tallis variations

OP posts:
Zhx3 · 13/04/2020 19:13

Beethoven Smile. This was my third choice!

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 19:32

This is one of my favourites. I first heard it in Master and Commander.

One of my stop the car and just listen pieces

OP posts:
chomalungma · 13/04/2020 19:49

Number 4....

What happened Grin

Looks for handsome doctor to wipe grit from eye

ancientoak · 13/04/2020 19:59

Are all the voters on anti-depressants ( or should they be ??) What a miserable top list. The programme controllers are even worse - Bruch, Beethoven, Rachmaninov - all the slow movements picked.
Can't we have some inspiring music ?
And if that sodding lark is top again I'll wring its neck !

chomalungma · 13/04/2020 20:01

Can't we have some inspiring music

Engima variations soon

OP posts:
chomalungma · 13/04/2020 20:07

It's the Lark again.

I don't get why it's so popular. But it obviously is...

OP posts:
Melfish · 13/04/2020 20:11

I reckon it'll be the Lark again, unfortunately. I like it but not more than the epic Rachmaninoff.
Ancientoak totally agree about the slow movements.
