Can someone who is having Tesco home food delivery explain what happens when they get to your door. DB is using it for first time and it said it will be delivered with 'no bags'. Surely they aren't taking crates in are they? Do you still have to sign? TIA.

It'll come in bags. The driver will dump the bags outside your front door, there'll be no returns of any unwanted substitutions. No signing.

Our delivery arrived on Friday. Tesco had reinstated bags, so the delivery driver left the crates stacked outside my door while I carried the bags inside. He asked if everything was OK (keeping his distance) and didn't require a signature.

They have removed the no bags option. They all come bagged. They just drop it inside your door

Our driver rang us when he parked up, as it wasn’t outside our house. Explained he would bring all the shopping in bags and knock on the door, then walk to a distance so we could open the door. When I did, he was stood a few metres away, making sure we came out to get it. Very smiley and pleasant Grin

Thank you all, that's really reassuring.

We had our Tesco order delivered last Wednesday. Two Tesco guys. Order came in four crates -no bags. They waited back whilst I unloaded. No idea why two delivery men. They asked if the substitutions were ok (implying I could send back if I wanted to).

Same.

They all come bagged, the delivery driver will keep distance from you and just leave the bags ar your doorstep. You won't be asked to sign anything.

Ours came last Friday. No bags so we had to unload the crates. The driver stood well back.

Two drivers is most likely an experienced driver training a new one.

Mine never comes bagged and I've had them weekly since the lockdown began. However, last Saturday and this it came bagged. The put the crate down on my doorstep then stepped away so DH could take the bags. The sheet was in the first crate.

Personally I throw myself on the ground and worship them from a safe, 2 meter distance.

Well, I did.

EricaNernie · 12/04/2020 20:15

you can reject substitutions, well i could with Asda last week, if you havent taken them into your house, just point them out to the driver/delivery person.

Ours broke down around the corner the other week. I couldn't go and meet him to pick it up as our toddler had fallen asleep, I'm 7 months pregnant and having really bad SPD. I couldn't lift him up.

Then our doorbell didn't work the next morning and we missed him when he tried to redeliver 😢 But we managed to organise click and collect. They gave us 2 Easter eggs and I bawled my eyes out 😭

Tescos have been brilliant.

Ours puts the crates on the doorsteps, knocks then stands back by the van. I unloaded the bags from the crates into the house, then gave him the thumbs up. Once I shut the door he came and got the crates.
