Just that really! Obviously, before their would be 'peak times' but now I'm not sure what these are anymore!

Late, I went to our Tesco at 8pm and it was fine. Didn’t have to queue and lots of space in the store. Everything in stock except pasta and tinned toms.

Evenings round here too.

It was evenings, but people caught on by Good Friday. Suspect bad weather may help - it was quite pleasant waiting 15 min in glorious sunshine.

britnay · 12/04/2020 10:27

I guess it depends on where you live? I'm in a small town and go shopping after work at 6pm and there is never a queue to go in.

ifowaa · 12/04/2020 10:33

The later the better where I am, but then there's not as much stock.

I have most staples now, so just go to a farmers market for fruit/veg/dairy & bread.
Much more expensive, but much less stressful.

Late afternoon or early evening. Only problem is they may have sold out of a lot of stuff by then, so there's not a lot of choice.

We have a local filling station/Tesco local. If we need anything vital, I go there about 9pm and it is usually very quiet.

Evenings here... After 7pm

I assume they're all shut in England today. I vividly remember getting caught out by that 15 years or so ago. Fortunately there was a Tesco Metro nearby (rammed with others who had also forgotten that big supermarkets have to shut on Easter Sunday).

Rubychard · 12/04/2020 10:49

I tend to go to mine about 9.00am, so NHS hour over, and still seems to be quieter and hence no queue. Generally well stocked too. If I go in about 5.00pm it might be quieter but there seems to be less stock.

heidihigh · 12/04/2020 10:49

I've been to the local big Tesco at about 7pm the last 2 Saturdays and it's been relatively quiet Smile

Holdingmybreath · 12/04/2020 10:58

Good Friday I went for 8am opening but went home as queue so big.Tried against 1pm(calculated families might have done the early shop and children now having lunch). There was still a queue but shorter,15 min wait to get in with staff giving out bottles water and icelollies as we were waiting in full sun.
It's amazing how many people still don't have lists and still wander around despite the one way system.

Gramgram · 12/04/2020 11:03

We've found out small Tesco local which opens 7am to 11pm is quiet first thing in the morning, I haven't been at any other time though.

BearSoFair · 12/04/2020 11:58

Our Sainsburys and Lidl seem busy all day but definitely worse first thing, Asda weirdly the other way around, quiet until around 11am and afternoon far more crowded.

Fifthtimelucky · 12/04/2020 11:59

Mine told me that 7-10pm is the best time so that's what I'll be trying next week.

Takemebackto · 12/04/2020 12:01

Evenings here mornings are very busy.
