Has anyone got this swimming pool?

It's this one www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113545911413

It's the Best way 10ft Fast set one. Just bought for the bargain price of £30 in B&M.

Just wondered what I need to do with regards to maintenance etc. Will i need a pump and will I need a filter? Could I just buy chlorine tablets etc?

Never had a swimming pool before except for a tiny one that DS keeps running around with on his head Blush

“For all pools, we recommended using chemicals to keep the water clear, bacteria free and to avoid algae build up. These can be purchased from www.bestwayaftersales.co.uk”

We've had a frame pool for the last 5 years. We put it up during May halfterm as that is when the last blossom on nearby trees have fallen.

They take a little bit of care but are well worth it.
Chlorine tablets, float and pH papers to keep the water safe.
Algacide to stop it turning green.
A kids fishing net to get any bugs and leaves out.
A cover or tarp to prevent anything falling in at night and also to keep the heat in.

We get the chemicals from amazon and keep the pool filled from May - September.

We also have a pump / filter but ours is bigger at 12ft and 5 ft deep.

How do you keep the water in these warm?

I had one once and it was so cold no one would go in it

OhioOhioOhio · 11/04/2020 18:07

Yeah. It's the temperature of the water that makes it useless for us.

Queenhoneybee · 11/04/2020 18:09

I bought that one last summer. You need a very flat surface otherwise it will go all misshapen and the water will eventually go over the side that's the lowest. Although the size is great, I had to buy another smaller rectangle one with blow up sides which therefore didn't have this problem.

We have a cover with a layer of bubble wrap that keeps the first few inches toasty.

DD goes in regardless of temperature, for me I tend to wade or float around in a rubber ring in the warm bit, most of the time though if it's a really hot day the coolness is nice and once you are in and got your shoulders wet its fine

We had this one a few years ago. I think you can get a little mains plug filter system for it. The chlorine tablets pop in the top of the filter and it gradually introduces the chlorine to the pool.

All very safe.

We preferred it to our current one. The one you are getting is much more fun for early teens and younger. They can flop into it and bounce on the outer loop.

We replace it with a solid side one and they all stopped using it even tho it's much bigger.

As PP You can get a bubble wrap insulated cover that floats on the top
Of the pool. Bestway sell them. This retains the heat. We had one of these too and it works to keep it clean and warm.

Thank you all so much! Sorry if it has been said but how do I add chlorine tablets? Do I need to buy a filter or do they just pop in? Blush

Other than that I suppose I'll have to invest in a cover for it. They're pricey at £30. Same price as pool Grin

You could just get a tarp, you could even lay normal bublle wrap under it, it'd do the same job.

We have a float thing that we put the chlorine tablets in and it just floats in it. We normally treat the water in the evening if we are using it everyday. If we haven't used the pool for a few days then we do it in the morning.

Make sure you buy algaecide, we didn't the first year and the bottom of the pool went green and slimy.

Yes I have had that one.
I found it got full of crud very quickly. Grass clippings and general stuff from bare feet. My kids were young and half the fun was jumping in and out of it thus it was impossible to keep clean.
I used it for one summer and accepted it would get dirty.
It was a lot of fun.

I had a filter for it but it was overwhelmed by the crud !
