Where to buy reasonable kids clothes during lockdown?

My DD needs some summer clothes. Usually I'd get some from Primark, I'm a big charity shopper and car boot bargain hunter as I don't see the point in spending a fortune when she just ruins them and is growing like a weed (so wouldn't normally go to next, for example) - even on eBay it adds up to a lot once you factor in postage - also I can't really afford to be spending a bomb at the moment as my husband is out of work due to coronavirus. Obviously none of my usual options are open to me at the moment, but she literally has nothing that fits from last year! Suggestions for somewhere where I could pick up some bargains?

Supermarkets? Sainsbury’s and Asda usually have a good selection. There was a big sale on in Sainsbury’s the other day.

Also, if you shop in Sainsbury’s regularly, you can use nectar points on clothes.

Asda George online. H and M. Gap.

Shelby1981 · 11/04/2020 13:20

Asda clothes are cheap and good quality x

CupoTeap · 11/04/2020 13:20

The supermarket clothes for lids are really good. I'd start with Asda

LolaColaMola · 11/04/2020 13:21

H&m do dresses/tops/shorts from £2.99. Free delivery at the moment and extended return time

Hazelnutlatteplease · 11/04/2020 13:21

H&m online

mangocoveredlamb · 11/04/2020 13:21

H&M are delivering and had 20% off kids clothes last week. They have extended their returns too!

slavetothenhs · 11/04/2020 13:27

So we mainly shop at Lidl so haven't been anywhere near the big supermarkets lately! Maybe I'll go and have a look - is it socially acceptable to though?

Of course. Just do it as part of your weekly shop.

midnightstar66 · 11/04/2020 14:02

H&M is similarly priced to primark but far nicer/better quality and are delivering

Ginfordinner · 11/04/2020 14:04

Our nearest Sainsburys has a large clothes section. IMO they are the best supermarket for clothes. No-one would judge you for buying children's clothes anyway. They grow several inches a year.

I’ve ordered online from Asda

winterisstillcoming · 11/04/2020 14:08

eBay

BlueLadybird · 11/04/2020 14:10

eBay postage is more reasonable when ordering a big bundle. Often sellers will have multiple items for sale at the same time when they are having a clear out and will happily combine postage (so you just pay what it costs) if you buy multiple items. It also cuts down the number of deliveries dramatically.

I had a baby last month and didn’t buy much before their arrival (superstitious) and now shops are shut but I managed to get all summer clothes in one bundle from one seller for £12.

Also I gather H&M are very reasonable and currently free delivery.

Gallade · 11/04/2020 17:48

I've just ordered loads of shorts for DS on Asda. Free delivery over £30.

1981m · 11/04/2020 17:51

I got some nice things from H&M but I think they've put their prices up

IggyAce · 11/04/2020 17:52

The H&M £2.99 summer dresses are fab I used to buy several each summer when my dd was younger. Can’t go wrong with Asda for shorts and t-shirts they normally sell them in multiple packs.

Sn0tnose · 11/04/2020 18:05

Our local Sainsbury’s has shut their clothing section (it’s on another floor so easily done) but Asda’s still has theirs open. Might be an idea to give your branch a ring before you make a special trip.

DappledThings · 11/04/2020 18:25

Sainsbury's are good for children's clothes generally. I've just set some up on click and collect so DH can grab them without having to browse which feels more socially acceptable!
